    Default Bomb Hills Topmount

I know there are some threads regarding the Sector Nine Bomb Hills but I cant seem to find what I want. I live in South Africa and although there is a local board company, they only make a double drop deck and I dont like the ride of a drop mount or drop deck. A lot of people seem to dislike the Bomb Hills because S9 makes it but how is it as a topmount speedboard? Does it skate ok and do I have to mod it in any way? I will skate it with Lime Zigs and Randall R2's. I also want to know if I have to run risers with the setup and how high? Thanks a lot!
    Keeping it loose since 1984.

The wheelbase needs shortening a bit to stiffen it up. I believe most people move the back truck in and use the inner holes as the outer ones. This is usually accompanied by cutting most of the tail off.

Not 100% certain about risers, But I reckon you could get away with wells.

Given the shortish wheelbase I'd consider getting some 42° plates for your R2's.

i dislike the narrowing toward the front, i personally like a more egg shaped topmount. but thats a finicky personal thing. generally speaking it makes a great topmount.

The stiffnes as it comes is fine for using it as a speedboard, but as Steve said you should consider making the wheelbase shorter to make it even stiffer and to add turning and grip to it. My speedboard is a modded up Bh and I can tell you it rides great.

The bombhills is a solid top mount speed board when you do all the things steve specified. I'll put a picture of mine up when I'm done studying.

Nice thing about a Bomb Hills deck, if it does get demolished in a wipeout, it's only US$70 to replace it, rather than US$120. I ride mine hard every day and go ditch-surfing with it. The Bomb Hills deck is quite sturdy. You shouldn't need risers with the Zigs, except a regular 1/8" shock riser to prevent the deck from splitting.

Untreated, the deck is quite vulnerable to moisture, as it's not well-sealed or varnished properly at the factory.Once the (very thin) factory varnish had rubbed away, I slathered mine with mineral oil every night for five nights, as if it were a cutting board. The deck soaked up about half a pint of oil, just at the edges. Then I gave it seven coats of varnish. Now it's waterproof, and stiffer.

Randal is under new ownership, and they say the new R2's are much nicer and better-made than the old ones were. The old ones would shred a set of JimZ, 'cause the casting was so rough. But the stock Bomb Hills boards here in the States are shipping with Gullwing Chargers, lately.

Its a great deck , I must get mine out more great concave imo.

you should only need a small raiser with a 75mm wheel and randall 180s
