Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
Good luck to you bud if your serious. Hope it all goes well. It might be worth contacting local ambo's and just asking them if they could cruise over? Or just ring them before you do the run and if their not needed then call up to cancel or something? Or even just have the quickest route to the hospital scoped out. Just in case!
I don't want to detract from your run, but I just feel that 100mph via tow is kind of cheating. You should hook up with Dubester and those crazy cats go hunt some gnarly hills if you can get to where ever they are.
Either way bud good luck. Go hard! 8)

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
i would much rather find a hill that would make me go 100mph than get towed. i feel sketchy holding onto a car at 50kmh runnin over sewer grates and such and bumps,..
this is probably the dumbest thing ive heard all week. have u seen how to lose a wheel at 30mph on youtube?
"how to lose a life at 100mph"---------"how to give longboarding a bad name at 100mph"
you must be lacking in skills if where u live is all flat,..and the hills that u do have ur too lazy to walk up. so instead u skitch.
like someone else said have you done any tech dh?,..i dont think u have any idea for what your in for.
i would call a ambulance as soon as u start the run,..worse case scenario, you have one waiting for you,..or u did it and it was a prank call. the video says its no longer on youtube or something so i cant even see the road. but damn i can imagine its far from perfect.
i know its mean but did your dad bang your sister and she had you? cause your also lacking brains. it says your 17,.. i cant believe your using a homemade deck.
you know what tho i do gotta say that i am extremely interested in seeing this video,..atleast u can win worlds dumbest video;s or something to pay for your funeral.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
Sorry to ask this, but I really don't feel like reading back through 8 pages of comments.
Does anybody know what kind of auto he said he was gonna use to tow?
And what about a tow rope? I would assume something like a wakeboarding rope would work well?

Why would you assume that?

Most likely because it's made specifically for towing.
However, in this case, you would need a rope that does not stretch. As far as I know, most synthetic ropes stretch at least a little so it might be best to go with natural fibres. Otherwise, you'll be getting pulled and it will pull you forward, then you will have slack. Then it will pull you forward and it will only escalate.

Yeah, I just couldn't imagine what other kind of rope you would use? I mean, just hold it like you're wakeboarding and you're off, no need to try to figure out a special kind of rope.
I just couldn't think of another type of rope to use.

That's going to happen anyway unless the driver can maintain perfect constant acceleration. It would get extremely interesting really fast if he ran over a slack tow rope. And it is also one of the reasons I posted earlier that this whole scheme is nothing but an epic fail.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
I dont think you can find a hill to get you going 100mph, the only ones i know are called cliffs.
Terminal velocity (how fast you fall out of a plane) of a human is about 120mph, and thats only if your body is doing a ''pencil dive" towards the ground, so in a tuck, the angle of the hill your on would have to be close to 90degrees (or a cliff), plus the added friction of the bearings... I dont think its possible unless you on a 90-80degree hill.

Wrong.
Terminal velocity of a human is around 120mph with arms and legs outstretched (maximum drag).
A "pencil dive" can get you 614mph.

None of you asshats are in the hammers shadow but, I will say the new year will bring some forum changes, one of which will be much stricter enforcement of the general anti-hater TOS rules.
