Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
OK.
I read this thread (well, there were quite a few posts I skipped over because they involved matters of which I don't give a damn.)
Maybe I missed the answer already, but here's my question:
What vehicle is doing the tow-in? And who's driving it?
100 MPH (believe it or not) it VERY FAST in an automobile. I can see all sorts of things going wrong with BRAKES and SLOWING DOWN and SPEEDING UP and tow lines going all to hell.
Just because you can take a naked picture of yourself doesn't necessarily mean you should.

Like this: My upcoming 100mph attempt
I don't think it will ever happen now with the tragedy of his friends fighting for their lives in the hospital.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
i think you should take the advice of nearly every person that's posted in this thread and just DON'T DO IT.
seriously, be smart and really think this over. do you know anything about the physics/science of what you're attempting? do you know how many variables there can be on any given day that'll change how this stunt goes?
face the facts: you're 17, you're not "pro", you don't have the aide of physicists or anything of the like to help explain what you'll be encountering at those speeds, you don't have a REAL EMT team (you're lifeguard buddies don't count..what do you need to know to be a lifeguard? CPR and how to use an AED; the latter of which won't even be available to you i'm guessing)
don't ruin it for the rest of the people that show a true love for this sport. you're wrecklessness and careless disregard for your own safety just shows everyone on this forum how immature and disrespectful you are of others'. just think about the reprecussions for US before YOU eat sh!t and die.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
By the way,
If he does get mangled, maimed, paralyzed, killed or worse
How will we know?
Does he have friends who subscribe to SF and will pass along the news?
And if so, why would "friends" facilitate this?

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
its true, lots of cars dont do to well going 100+
and i dont think you should use a rope
its goes slack
under ur board
under wheel
u go flying
instead use liek a tow bar
or just shot a grapppling hoook at a wall get on your board and hit the retract button
u should prolly hit at least 70

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
The main problem with a rope (and I know whaT I'm talking about ) is whne gears are changed... gear change has to be VERY smoothly coz the gear change is what make you crash

Good idea! He should be able to get sponsored by Acme. They have a long history in building equipment for these sorts of projects.

He said he was going to do this one or two weeks after he made the topic right?
Well, he made the topic 19 days ago.

He put everything on hold yesterday due to a near fatal car accident by members of his crew.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
have a type of signal to the driver, havae paramedics ready, triple check everything, suggest u to not do this but ur choice, and have a long rope to not get killed by car.
also triple check the car and rope too, not just the board
and if u do know the world record of fastest speed on a longboard/skateboard, i would get a world record person to come and see
oh btw, if u think u cant do it or somethings not right, DONT GOT FOR IT.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
I can't help but doubt that this will even be attempted. Don't try, there are just too many variables that you can't take into accout: wind, uneven acceleration by the car, etc.

Re: My upcoming 100mph attempt
A rope just sounds like a flat out bad idea. There are so many things that could go wrong (slack during gear change, tearing of said rope, entanglement, etc.). If you're actually going to do this, which IMO is the very wrong thing to do, look at how biker sherlock did it. He used a crotch rocket with a bar to get him up to the speed, and then to slow him down....
