So i was watching the late show last night and danny way was on and he said that they get up to about 50mph on the mega ramp before they hit the first ramp. I don't believe this but do you think its possible?
40 tops and thats being generous. i bet it could be done under the right circumstanses Ie 95a 76mm flys or something to that effect but not with what they ride
hold on everybody, They start about 100 feet in the air with 99a wheels at almost vertical drop. The dude invented the mega ramp, 50mph seems plausible, that doesn't mean that everyone hits 50. I doubt he's lying. Someone could figure out this probably mathematically, it would just take awhile to figure it out.
rolling friction is almost nothing on hard wheels on a laminated wood surface.
air resistance is going to grow exponentially, but 50mph is almost a third the speed of the human body in freefall, and since they can expect to accelerate all the way to the minimum, air resistance isn't going to play much of a part. remember they are dropping in on a ramp that is steeper than any road you will ever skate.
fully plausible.
neb, you cant calculate the air resistance, not without experimentation.

I dare say he did, or got someone to do a lot of maths before building it.
you wouldn't want to fall very far long or short on that thing...
It's very steep and compared to a road, extremely smooth and level.
it's the last two that provide the largest difference with how the speed effects the board.
Plus they don't really have to steer at all..
also the landing area is very carefully matched to the trajectory the rider is taking so the don't land too hard.
Ski jumps do the same thing.

Since the new evo has the green graphic, does that mean the board will go faster? I heard they used a lighter paint, which makes the board lighter and faster?:-k
