A longboard is a skateboard in the same way a MILF is still a mother.
I can see how standups are more controlled and you can better adjust exactly how much speed you want to shave.
very nice, Ive been practicing my stand up slides recently, so far (according to my gps watch) i'm comfortable with them up to a little over 15mph but havnt had the balls to pull standers over 20ish.
i'll have to set up a camera and push myself a bit to see what i can do.

Re: Are speed checks used in DH (standup speed checks)
i don't know how to standup no way, i havn't tried at fast speed and sucked ass at them. i think i'll set it as a summer goal to try and learn them.
i find footbreaking much easier for some reason, and thats on a top mount! might be down to the fact i've got about 10mm of car tyre on the bottom of my breaking foot but at speed i'm more comfortable doing that.
and my predrifts into corners are coming along alrite, with a hand down i have more confidence heading into corners, i think i have worn my otangs down too far though for racing......
but with regards to racing i can imagine a guy doin a standup just before a corner would freak someone following right out, especially if they were trying to take the lead or whatever... lol
