So I myself have never been over 40mph, and I dont think ive slid to a stop at over 30. I reckon I know I could by performing a cole man style slide to come to a stop but just have not tried. When Im going that fast and slide, I think I turn too much and start heading towards a curb/off the road, which aint good. I am interested in how you guys come to an abrupt sliding stop from high speeds, say 40-45 plus (with just a slide, no foot brake)? I would also love to see some videos of some high speed stopping slides, anyone have any?
na, but they weren't going slow either........
both had hard ass wheels so the slide was way longer than it would have been with a longboard.....but still cool vids of some power slides.
Hehe yeah, Ive seen both of those vids before and the slides im talking about you would need gloves for or else your hand would be burned off. I wanna see some speedboarding slide to a stop action. Im gonna be going out to my local hill tomorrow to do some, but dont know if anyone will be there to record me!
Of course it would be a shutdown slide, Im talking about going 40+ and sliding to a complete stop. Do you have experience doing this kind of slide? Do you do a pendy slide or what?
haha. i did my first pendy when i was going like 40ish. there was a bad grate and a some potholes about 20-30ish feet ahead of me. so i didnt have time to footbrake or run, so i got down and kicked the back wheels out. i did a pendy and it was awesome.

I would do a drawn out pendy while grabbing the rail as apposed to one hand up. Making it easier to control the slide. Not sure why you would want to come to a complete stop at that speed.
you can pendy or for a shutdown only turn the board 90* so its perpendicular to the hill and lean back on your hand so you don't highside, and let the board slide to a stop.
i would just airbrake and then footbreak, then again i havnt gone 40 before (tho i have stopped with airbrake/footbreak going pretty fast). if you dont know how to footbreak i highly recommend learning.
