if it meet and exceeds DOT standards like it says, seems like a good choice. plus it's cheaper. hows about the protec ace of spades?

well, the general rule of thumb is that motorcycle helmets, especially DOT or Snell certified helmets, are gonna be safer but usually much much heavier than mountain biking helmets. lighter weight helmets usually hold up just fine in skateboarding accidents (just ask justin metcalf, he fell headfirst at high speeds wearing an Icaro skyrunner [paragliding helmet] and is alive to tell his story).

i dont think you're sacrificing a lot of safety by going with either one because at the end of the day, any helmet is better than no helmet at all.

Mountain bike helmets are designed for (or should be, anyway) impacts with trees and rocks and such.
Any more protection is overkill, IMO.

Dude I have that exact same helmet!
I Got it from http://http://www.timeshipracing.com/race.htm FYI that is me in those pictures
The helmet fits great and saved my life. Really it did, fell right on my head and the Munnsville race. If you buy it from Timeship they put a face screen on it. Tehy are good people.

Its is DOT rated and relatively light and has very high visibility. I very highly recomend it.

I think its pretty light but my friends say its heavy.
They only say that because they have Charly/Icaros that weigh under a pound. I dont feel very safe wearing those helmet's tho. It doesn't seem like enough to really save you, altho I know many ppl crashed on those helmets and are still alive. I just dont trust my life to anythig that isn't D.O.T rated. I think the GMAX is really light IMO. hope I helped

Dont hesitate to ask anymore questions.

I don't think you can ever have too much protection... I can understand if the protection is outweighed by the costs, but technology is always improving so we can have better and safer products. Like if we could have motorcycle protection at the cost and weight of a mountain bike helmet thatd be legit.

How to make a visor for your Helmet

there r some instructions to make a tinted faceshield there...

if u already have urs fit to the shape of ur helmet just get some scrap tint from an auto shop and clean ur face shield with some soapy water then peel off the backing to the tint and stick it right on the faceshield... trim the edges and u should have urself a nice tinted faceshield

this should work..... but i havent actually tried it so dont blame me if it doesnt
