so i was riding down this relatively small hill (max speed is about 25 i guess) and coming up is a busy street. so i planned to make a turn into the back entrance to a pizza hut - unfortunately i forgot about the huge wooden enclosure that pretty much all businesses have to hide their dumpsters. so right as i come around the turn i see these two huge doors flanked by large amounts of gravel and of coarse a huge puddle, so any chance of me getting out of the way was totally lost.
to make a long story short, i bailed and ended up rolling 5 feet and finally hiting the doors breaking one of them in half as my back hit it.
as im flying through the air im thinking to myself: wow this is gunna suck isnt it, and ofcoarse its the one time i decided against wearing any sort of protection...
though when i landed and came to my senses i delighted in the fact that i was totally fine, aside from some pretty knarly road rash, a messed up shirt and upside down
so fish you want to share any of your stories of crashes that should have ended up with you in the hospital?
i took a spill today. ever since last month ive been havn problems with my hairpins i dnt no why. i was taking a heelside turn at about 30 and my wheels just went out from under me. nothin serious just a riped up sweat shirt. can anybody give me some advice with my hairpins?
Well my last one could have been a whole hell of a lot worse. I got really lucky and I'm still able to walk.
Hmmm...bad crash that could have resulted in a hospital. I can't think of any in specific that could have resulted in a hospital visit. I've had my fair share of bad crashes that resulted in torn clothing and hurting appendages. Helmet has "bumped" the ground more than once and I did break my thumb before my first outlaw race (NOVA outlaw).

My Best crash was when I was when I was bombing this steep hill in this Tucson mountain neighborhood, I had not been down it before and did not know what to expect. When I got to the bottom I had to make a sharp turn to the right and while doing the turn I hit some gravel, lost balance and flew off my board. I hit the ground running and stayed on my feet but I was going really fast, I hopped over some cactus grabbed on to a tree branch which promptly broke and I smashed into a disheveled barbwire fence. Though luckily I was wearing my gear and was barely hurt.

My almost extreme injury:
So i was skating around my neighborhood, each street it pretty long. About a third of a mile.
I wait at a stop sign, look both ways and push across. Right after my first push, a mini van comes speeding down, (i'm guessing 40mph). I'm in a middle of a carve and i cant put my footdown fast enough.
When the car passes by, it was just over half an arm length away from me.
If i hadn't carved, i would be in pieces
so a few minutes ago, i was bookin it down a fatty overpass. i was goin probly around 30. I was getting to the bottom where there is a hairpin left turn. i felt a bit off balance so i started airbraking. i started hitting the turn so i bent down and grabbed the rail. i kinda high-sided and so i stood up so as not to eat s***. i ended up flying face first, slightly bent over into a mass of bushes, still going about 20. luckily i was wearing a brand new 661 fullface helmet. i had some minor cuts on my knees. i could have easily been super-shanked by some fatty sharp branches or had my jugular pierced by a wickedly jagged 2 foot dagger of a stick. it was sweet

Re: a crash that should have been bad
[on camera]
35 mph getting ready for a corner onto another side street. Car pulls out and I couldnt tell if I could go straight and miss it or if it was going to move and own me.... I think it's going to move so I get into a shutdown slide board goes under car and I get up unharmed

i was going about the same speed down a huge hill by my house, a bus rolled pass a stop sign can he blocked the whole intersection. I had to ride into the grass, i slid on my on my ass/knees for about 10 feet, luckily unharmed. He later came up to me and said "This is not a playground" I just got his plate number and called his bus company.
ALMOST BAD...the only bad thing Ive had happen to me that I walked away from instead of skating away from was about a year ago, I was on this little mini going down a hill and trying to pump like a mad man, I caught a bit of wheel bite, but enough to throw me off the board i put my hand down (of course that was the day I decided I wouldnt need my gloves) and I sprained my wrist pretty badly, and hit my elbow soooo hard I thought I broke it.
It wasnt much of a hill, maybe going about 15 at the most lol.
The crush that should have been bad: Just skating on a flat street around here in the dark the other night. Wearing all black like an asshole. Giant potholes in the middle so I swung over to the curb. Right then an SUV comes barreling around a corner, no headlights, going the wrong way. Never would have seen him, or him me.
well i had a choice:
foot break for about 10 feet and maybe bleed off a couple mph (there was so much gravel all around id just slide right over it) and in the meantime loose a little control
or
take it like a man and save my board from a bad dent
the other day my roomate and i were skating down a fun hill that has a huge curve in it, both of us are goofy so it was a heelside turn. big enough to where upcoming traffic is kind of hidden u know? well whie going down i saw a car
