Comet- A freeride/fun time deck

maybe comet could put something in to reinforce the structural integrity of the deck around the drop holes?

I believe there are 2 layers of e2e material in there. We would have to ask Jason if he thinks it would be strong enough???

I've had Holeys on a Hellcat. No mod. I wanna say the fit was a little tight, but that was a couple of years ago, and I uh...don't really remember things from that long ago. My guess (I may be wrong) would be if Crails fit, Holeys fit.

e2e is strong stuff, and the decks take a beating. They will be stronger around the drop thru holes than a normal wood deck, but perhaps an extra layer around the nose/tail may be in order, we want these things to be BEEFY. I'm tired of noses that break and smash, the key to a long living board is no delamination or cracks, and a smash to the nose could cause that.

^^ that seems like the easiest option... However, i'm not familiar with jason's current drop thru holes (pagan, crystal chalice) so if anyone has one of those decks, speak up and let us know what works!

Just checking in. I think that our new drop pattern should work with most everything but not all... if you cant cram it in there, some filing should do the trick. \
As for the reinforcement, I have some ideas that will help. Along with material usage....One is to keep a little more material around the front of the board where it slams curbs. Seems like some drop boards (while they are extremely well crafted) leave so little material in that impact zone that only unearthly metals could prevail...

If no one has any objections, I will send all the emails around so you all can chat that way too. If anyone doesnt want me to include your email just email me personally at jason@cometskateboards.com - and its all good.
BTW- the mold is going in the press tmrw. Its solid and very unique. We just got another foot of snow here - so im parking garage bound which is less than ideal but I will be riding something tmrw night hopefully... If things press up cool and the wood torture is not too bad, we should be ahead of schedule on this end.
I realize that weather is a factor so having an extra week wiggle seems fine - any objections???
Pics to follow at the end of the day.
ONe last thing - naming on hold?
How about art or artist... ? If we can decide on an artist, I can call and arrange the work to get done after we think a name will arise.

Stoked about it getting in the press! As of tonight, we've been corresponding with the few emails we had, so having all of them will be nice.

As for art, It would probably be easiest to get Nat to do this art, as we already have a rapport with him, and it fits the scheme.

as mentioned, naming after riding?

I also got a foot of snow today, so parking garages at night is in my future.

For art, I'd suggest Chad Vangaalen.

He's a wicked dude, I met him in Toronto last year, makes his own art and instruments, music. He has animated music videos for quite a few bands not to mention for himself. He is signed to Subpop in the states and a small label in Calgary called Flemish Eye. I think he would really dig your company and he skates himself! Actually there is a great new song on his new album called "bare feet on wet griptape".

Here's some of his videos. I searched to find some of his artwork, but couldn't find any photos from his exhibitions, though I own a few of his doodles myself. His animated stuff is somewhat different than his illustrations, alot less detailed and more conceptual, but I assure you he has the skills to pay the bills.

Maybe you should give use until like march 6th a month of testing, and some riders including me will have it tested out at Major Stocum Outlaw race and Slide Jam/Comp, unless you want to keep it on the down low

dude, there's no way this is on the down low. you have it underneath your name, plus this is a huge thread. I like that it's out in the open, more people can talk, submit ideas, get stoked. All keeping it on the DL does is give it silly hype.

That said, i'm definitely going to be riding mine at stocum, testing or not. I want to get a lot of riding in before though...

other breaking news - the folks at FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster) got back to me and approved us using the name. They were stoked...if we decide to choose that name after the test riding phase.
