Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
Jason, the new prices look awesome! It's a great way for people to get a nice deck for a cheap price. However, it would be cool to keep the basic e2e up as non custom work in addtion to the all wood.I t's a fun layup, and some people might not know about it, and will just get a wood deck...
Back to the board. I've begun to fill out my eval sheet, and I'm really impressed with the deck. As keith said, the deck could be a bit stiffer, but for me it's decent as nice, as it gives a bit of a dampening feel. either way. I like the concave a lot, not too much so it hurts, but enough to lock you in. I do want to talk about the nose/wheel cutouts though. I'm getting a tiny bit of rub with the EW freeride wheels on there, as they're center set. It's on the beefy nose, not the standing platform. THis isn't really a problem, as i haven't fallen from it yet, but maybe putting some one ply deep wheel wells along that area, and the standing platform area would solve the problem. This would allow for the keeping of the beefy nose, which i like A LOT, it's really durable.
all my other feelings i'm saving for the eval sheet, i don't feel like typing.
Nice work jason!
edit: description on the site sounds great.

I think he`s asking all wood or wood/e2e
I`m expecting the production model to be e2e at least.

Im riding the e2e materials and have a few of their wood boards. I really only ride wood boards, no real reason why, just always have had them

i'm happy with FSM as a code name.
a code name is a code name.
kind of how 007 is a codename, for something infinitely more classy: Bond, James Bond.

edit: website looks really tasty.

So the $99 deal (pre-order only) is for a solid maple board correct?
Then if you want anything other than just maple it will be a custom one-off, including the maple/bio-composite/poplar layups?
The prototypes are 8 ply maple.
The final product layup is not yet known...The e2e material is an integral part of what we create. Right now we are getting the specs right to engineer the end product. Maple is something that most people have had experience with so it works for prototyping w/o increased variables.
If you want a prototype as is - it will be $99.95 or you can choose to prebook one of the first of the line for $99.95 due to release by March xth?
The prebook price and final price may change as we settle on a material layup, size, wheel wells, graphics, ... We just wanted to make it available as an option to get one of these boards and know that you are getting one soon for a good price for supporting the ongoing efforts....
Thanks again you all...

Now I'm confused. If we pay the $100 now, we get whatever you guys end up releasing? Or do we automatically get the maple version? I want to preorder, but I don't want to end up regretting it if some other deal pops up. I've been looking everywhere for a board like this, and I think this is what I'm gonna be buying.

You can also choose to buy one of the 8 ply prototypes for $100.

Do you have like a list of retailers in europe? Upon looking I only found sickboards who don't seem too updated with your lineup...

I've written to sik boards letting them know about Comet's updated line-up, not sure if they will be carrying the new decks.. I'd suggest you send them an email requesting that you'd like to have a european retailer carrying Comet's decks! The new web site is SICK!

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
I was really digging keith's prototype this weekend. It's got the right stuff to be a board that can be thrashed in ways only limited by your imagination. To me this kind of board is the next step in the evolution of skating because of how much terrain you can cover on it. You could easily dance it, slide it, session corners, maybe even race on it, take it to a bank or ditch, pop up and down curbs. I'm stoked to see the composite version.

That`s just a perfect summary of what we want this deck to be.

This board was the first board i used to pop down a curb, it was rad, so many places to grab, so light, i got a lot of air. The board is not perfect, but with some slight improvements, it will be.

The board that you pre order for $100 will be an e2e board dialed in to the specs that are decided in this thread. We are extending the $100 prebook price for a limited time until the lay up is decided upon. The price will be adjusted once we know the final layup and specs. The discounted price of $100 is Comet's way of thanking you for your advanced support of the project.
On the Comet site, we have created a more affordable version of all the boards. Material upgrades are available for every model. During check out, enter e2e Material into the promotional code field and your board will have the upgrade. Sorry for the confusion.... Some last minute web glitches, however all of this will be obvious on the site by the end of the day.
Thanks

We are shipping globally. Check the USPS website to figure out the est shipping. USPS is the cheapest of all for single boards...and we should be able to get you a board for under $50 in shipping. If anyone knows of a cheaper way to ship single boards internationally, hit me up...
