We are digging all of the creativity that has gone into naming. Maybe we should get some ideas and nominate a few and then do a vote.
Also - I have read a couple of posts on pricing. Considering what goes into making a skateboard, what other board companies are charging, and the economy, what does this community think would be a fair price for this board and the process of co designing the ultimate shape. All of your thoughts on this would help us from a design standpoint and my influence how the Comet quiver progresses.
All in favor of the dimensions say eye!
If you have some other ideas of what is right please post it and lets work it out. Thanks to you all for contributing to the process.
I`d rather have the dimensions in the first post from ridesnow.
39" length and 9.75" width and a wheelbase around 30"-31"
For this decks intended purpose, it shouldn`t be too long and have a wb like a DH-deck IMO, keep it short-ish and agile!
Agreed, especially for a "freeride" deck. Maneuverability is nice to have. 32 inches is too long.

With regard to pricing, what Comet charges is totally fair for a sustainably produced high-quality composite board made right here in America by a small company.
If skateboard companies hadn't moved production to Mexico and China and switched from silk screening to craptacular heat transfer grapics to keep prices at 1982 levels, a standard 7-ply popsicle stick would cost $80 today. $150 for a downhill board is pretty reasonable.
I think they should call this the Comet Heaven's Gate.

If you can, give it the same WB as the nemesis, or make it variable.31"-33"? A freeride board should be able to thrash and go switch, while also being able to bomb some pretty decent hills!
I think they are plenty well priced! I think the problem is, that people still don't realize the technology involved. The old voodoos flaunted their carbon fiber and fiberglass weave and other parts. These new boards have their technology hidden by the wood.
If you can, give it the same WB as the nemesis, or make it variable.31"-33"?
Then it's really no different than any speedboard.

You don't need such a short wheelbase. 31"-33" is plenty short. I can go switch and then back from switch pretty easily on that size wheelbase. Variable wheelbase would be the best, however, being dropthru will make that pretty much impossible...
If you need a wheelbase shorter than 29", then it won't be fun for going fast as well as slashing.

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
I know I am a little late to the party, but I would like to put in my two cents.
Please keep the width between 10 and 10.5 inches. This board is sounding wicked sick, but for a dude with size 16 shoes (I know not the norm, but it seems to be with longboarding) less than 10 inches on a board will not bode well for being locked in and it could be quite uncomfortable. Also since there is concave and rocker the width won't actually be 10 inches. Decreasing the width will only exacerbate the situation. Also for you peoples with the tiny feets the rocker/concave is going to lock your foot in like a sive. So even though your toes won't touch the edges you will still have plenty of leverage due to being deep down inside of the concave.
All the same I am really diggin the idea of rocker/concave close to the truck mounts. Plus a sustainable product that you can brag home to mom about. Here is my list of things to have:
* Shape: nsc1120's shape
* Length: 40"
* Width: 10.5"
* NO TORSIONAL FLEX OR MINIMAL.
* Wheelbase: Variable up to 32"
* Truck Mounting: DROPTHROUGH. Gives a more snowboard like feel which if you snowboard helps to bust out stand-ups since it is close to the same feeling. Dropped is cool, but as mentioned before the rocker/concave solves the issue. Having a top-mount option would be nice too for those that prefer it over dropthrough. Lets face it top mounting a dropthrough is mechanically weak.
* Concave: 0.75"
* Rocker: 1" symmetrical
* Edges: Eagle Claws. Kawwww!!!
If you can make the freeride deck perform the same or better than the Kebbek Hairpin (in my humble opinion the best dang freeride deck you will every get your hands on) you will have a freakin winner.

As for the width, 10 max. It's unrealistic to cater to someone with huge feet, as the norm is much under that. With a 9.7-10" width, everyone should be happy.
