It will probably fit the smokies, but if you want a rockered drop through speedboard you might want to check out the chalice or pagan or loki.

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
Just got one of these guys and it is absolutely sick. I've got randal 180 and 83mm 81a flywheels (worn to about 76) on it and it just feels right.
Just pulled off some of the fastest speedchecks and 180s (mid 30s) i've ever done..... and a few fully fluid standup 360s. This deck just feels so comfy going sideways.

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
Hello Everyone, sorry to bump this thread but I'm not really sure where else I can go.
First of all, I got my freshly baked fsm yesterday. Put on some paris and stimulus on em'. And heck, let me tell you I love this board.
There are not many hills where I live(pretty much none, the netherlands woohoo...) but as a commuter, carver, and pumper this thing is great. Not to mention the slide capabilities(luckily we do have a garage).
But there where a few things I'd like to clear up.
First of all there where glue drops and stains all over the bottom of the deck, I also got the feeling they didnt sand the edges. As you can see on this pic theres yellow paint on the edges:

Which I find kind of sloppy for a 145 euro costing deck, but heck. I don't care this thing rides like a beast.
But then this feeling encroached me. After taking some closer looks and touching the board all over (Yes I admit, this deck gets me going). I got the idea as if this board didn't got a proper finish, as if it wasn't lacquered at all, or at least a veeeery thin layer. Cause all the edges are still rough and it was sort of wet yesterday and I had the feeling some of the mud got onto the edge, and when I wiped it off it would leave a brown stain.
So okay, I could also care less about this. If it wasn't for that I would be very pissed if it started to delam, which would be a serious threat here(we have very moist weather conditions through the whole year). And that's the part which bothers me.
Soo, I hope someone from comet can reassure me. Also input from you other fsm owners out there are very appreciated.
Cheerios!

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
no idea if thats normal but you can fix it with polyurethane , get some stuff meant for outdoor wood sealing, for decks and houses

i personally like comet's "devil may care" look of their boards, but i think keith from comet has previously reassured that the decks are sealed with their eco-friendly methods. its a board, its shreds, its gonna look like sh!t if you ride it the way its suppose to be ridden, don't worry about it.

Yea man it's fine. I was uneasy about the looks of mine but it's held up. It's got a chip in it here and there. The nose was even run over by a 3500 Truck, and all it did was loosen up the pivot in the truck.

All Comet boards come with an extremely thin layer of finish on them. I'm not entirely positive on the type of finish (lacquer, polyurethane, etc.) but I can tell you it certainly is there. I thought the same thing with my Voodoo a few months ago but when cleaning grip tape goo off with acetone, it took off some of the finish that I was certain wasn't there.
If you're worried about it getting wet and delamming, though, I'd through a couple coats of a spray polyurethane on it just to be safe. The board won't be quite as biodegradable anymore, but should last longer.

ETC ETC ETC
The board is made in an eco friendly manner, that is just all a result of it. The look may be a bit "rough" but it's a damn fine board. BTW, no wooden longboard will survive forever in a moist environment without some kind of issues, so I suggest you put a waterproof coating on it before you start taking it outside.

Re: Comet- A freeride/fun time deck
The boards coming out of the comet factory now have a shiny gloss finish so that the question of "is my board clear coated?" stops getting asked. They are all clear coated (I've even witnessed it happening) it just wasn't a glossy finish like most companies use. Comet is much more interested in the ride rather than appearance. Wait for my video to come out to see how much abuse one of these can really take. I've broken two drop through ones already and both times was not a fault of manufacturing or even from over abuse they just got eaten by the most monstrous hidden wheel eating crack in the pool we were skating. No drop through (except maybe the dervish) would have lived through what broke my fsm's. So go out and ride them as hard as you want. I skate stairs with mine sometimes and do big bonelesses and launch ramps and such. Don't be afraid, remember these magic words: IT"S A SKATEBOARD AND IT"S MEANT TO BE SKATED!
