    Default learning to shuv-it

i've been longboarding for 5 months now ive been trying to get into tricks i can do some of the basics but lately ive been trying to shuv-it.

i got it down to spinning the board the but my feet never land on the board, occasionally my back foot will, but i just want to stick it already.

    any tips?

I think if you got down the rotation of the board, landing the jump is just practice. Usually when I do a 180 body varial (i think thats the name), i jump, twist and get low.

bagelbum really helped me to start learning this. Start by just practicing doing the 180 pivot. don't jump just do the pivot then jump and 180 to go back to regular stance. Then just shorten the time. You want to swing the board at least 90 to 100 degrees before you do the jump otherwise it will flick to far out and not stay underneath you and be in control that's why you only land with your back foot on half the time. If its in control AT LEAST your back foot should land on it every time its the front foot that's harder to commit to.

What board are you trying it on??

I learned a shovit over 10 years ago. I found it is much different on a longboard than on a shortboard... especially on the Dervish since it lacks proper tails/noses to preform the trick with comfort.

well it kinda a no name board haha when i started i wasnt sure on spending so much money so i just bought this "rainbow" board atleast thats wat it says on top of it. it has a nose and tail but their not that long cause i was dumb and bought sidewinders so it shortens them a good amount.

Yeah, the more leverage you have the easier it is.

iv got my shuvs down pretty well. i can do it on pretty much anything the hardest for me is the drop wedge "landyachtz". but the biggest part is getting over the fear of getting both feet on the board and slipping out. its alot easier on a bigger board if you twist 90 degrees and throw it the rest and snap back into your original position. it much easier to go in fakie postion and just throw your front good. hope it helped good luck

Dude. I can't do it to save my life. The first time I tried to shove it I landed it. I haven't landed one since. Its crazy. The same thing happened to me with the old school kickflip. First time I landed it and now I can land it like 1/50 times. Its insane. Cross stepping was the opposite. I couldn't do it the first couple times, but with a really small amount of practice, its super easy. Anyone that has any real specific tips on this would be greatly appreciated.

i learned it on a bigger board, and i almost can't do it on a shortboard cuz of the small wheelbase and less leverage. just make sure u can do a 180 pivot, and after that a shuvit is easy.
