yeah when I bought my giant board the guy at the surf shop was all like,
"I have one back home, only it's round at the top. Just learn to hang ten on it, man..."

    I'm STILL workin on it...

Just keep working at it. Put a 4x4 (like a fencepost) on the floor and just cross-step all over it while watching TV or whatever. It's easier on longer boards but once you get the hang of it, you can walk any longboard. I use anywhere from a 38" to a 80".
Check out this vid if you haven't seen it, lots of boardwalking....

yeah practice on carpet or something. take it slow. push the board once and try. lean toward the front of the board and don't get too tied up. you need a wide board for it to be really easy. i can crosswalk pretty well right now but it is definatley a hard trick

Yup. Start out on the carpet or grass: somewhere your board won't shoot out from underneath you just to get the feel and spacing of your board. Once you get the hang of that, do it on some pavement. Believe it or not, going slow oftentimes makes it harder; your board won't have enough momentum to keep going forward during the weight shift. AKA the board'll slip from underneath your feet. Give yourself a good push. To train yourself, just do a cross step and hold. Ride it out with your legs crossed. It'll feel weird, buut it's a position that you'll want to get comfortable in. Also, don't be afraid to throw in the occasional hop. With a bit of practice, you'll find that it's actually easier to hop into position than cross stepping.
