Varial Flip...Board wont lift?
I started learning varial flips today and the board won't get in the air whenever I try to get it into the air. It's almost like I jump and my front foot tries to flip it, but while I'm doing this my back foot gets in the way and keeps the board from going into the air...Should I post a video of myself attempting, or do you have a picture in your mind of what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

Re: Varial Flip...Board wont lift?
Videos always help. More likely than not, you just need to time when your jumping up, and flipping. Make sure your back foot is up before your start lifting with your front, and make you don't have too much weight on your front foot when you start flipping.

Re: Varial Flip...Board wont lift?
I think I've tried lifting up my back foot before flipping with the front, but I think I just ended up not being able to scissor-kick for some reason. I don't know, I guess I'll just keep trying.

Give it time....you honestly can't expect to get them the first day you started to try them.
I will give you 2 helpful words of advice.
1. Patience is a virtue. Spend more time practicing and trying to work on your technique (and by more time I don't simply mean 1 additional day)
2. For help with learning old school kickflips, my friend told me to put a patch of griptape on the underside and rail of my deck.
In doing so, you're giving your shoe a much better surface to grip and flip than on the smooth underbelly of your longboard.
The same applies for varial flips...slap some grip on the bottom of your deck to give your shoe some traction.

Re: Varial Flip...Board wont lift?
Thanks guys, I'll keep trying and perhaps I'll use grip tape (or maybe i'll just tape some sandpaper) to put on the bottom of the board. Just wondering, you guys seem to be on a lot of silverfish threads, do you guys happen to be longboarding gods?

You see how Cannon's post mentioned Rome???
Well that's because me and him are the embodiment of the ancient roman gods of skate & stoke.

This guy is about as close to a god that you'll find on this site.

If only that were true....
There are plenty of riders on this site who skate better than me.

I attribute that to an affinity for gear whoring (thank you silverfish), the search function, 3 years of servitude on this site, and my mad skillz.
