    Default Learing how to slide.....

I am new to the longboarding world and have the carving down pretty good and was wondering how to stop. I the only wasy that ihave been stopping jumping off and running it out.(we all know how that turns out in the end OUCH ) I find it hard to get low on my board because i am a bigger kid, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how i may be able to stop myself other that jumping and running it out.
    thank you

hey man,i only learnt to slide yesterday and the secret to learning is hard wheels, and crappy short board wheels will do then al you do is go reasonably fast (on flat is how i learnt) crouch and grab the right rail thenput your left had with aglove on the ground behing you and turn left by putting almost all the turning force on the front end then to do a 180 just pull it roung a little more

You could also try foot braking, take off the foot you push with and drag the sole of your shoe on the street and slow down that way. Practice it at low speeds first till you get the idea. It feels a little weird at first, but then it becomes natural. 8)

push on the hand that is sliding (if your doing a slide and your back is facing the ground) with lots of pressure, you have to do this to lighten the load on the board.
