Default backwards pirouette vs switch pirouette

been working on both. so far, doing a pirouette while facing backwards has proven way easier than doing a pirouette switch. what do you guys think? any tips?

yea, i think facing backwards is easier for most all people. but i do have a tip...

maybe it only happend for me, but when i first started pirouettes i was putting to much weight on my front foot and it was causing to much friction against the grip so i couldnt go all the way around. you should almost have your foot off the board, just nearly touching it only with your toes. you will feel the difference

Yeah the backwards pirouettes are a fun trick, and the board stops in the middle of your rotation too sometimes. I call that one (backwards) a fakie pirouette.

Then the switch pirouette...I haven't tried those before actually. I've done switch 360's though, and they actually aren't that bad. But they definitely don't look as smooth as my regular 360's. Switch pirouettes are kinda scary...to me there are a lot more things that can go wrong during a pirouette than a 360, it's easy to kick the board out and fall.

Remember to start facing forwards, and swing your arms nice and level so you don't get thrown off axis. Do a couple normal pirouettes, but think them through at every stage. Go into switch, and compare yourself to make sure you are doing everything the exact same way. Then I guess keep trying.

If you are having a lot of problems, film yourself doing a regular pirouette, and a few attempts at switch ones. Then slow motion them and see if there's anything you're doing wrong with your stance/rotation.

Mostly I think it'd just be the commitment to land it, since it'd feel so awkward switch.

i have a tip for switch pirouettes:

when in your normal stance, do the first step of a cross step so that you are standing crossfooted.
in this position a switch pirouette is way easier!
if you get this the full switch pirouette will not be as hard and scary,

good luck!

oh, and to learn i thought the switch were easier than the backside ones!
