Default Protecting my board

I just got my dervish, which I had been waiting for for sooo long, and now after watching some loaded videos of people doing tricks and stuff on their longboards, I got into it. I'm trying learn how to kickflip and am trying to protect my edges when my board flips only halfways. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do so?

The old school flip is pretty rough to boards. I don't know how you could permanently protect the edges of a board for it. The best way to prevent damage is to do the trick right! So I would suggest learning on another board, getting confident, then taking it to the Dervish. Or else you can wrap the rails of your Dervish in some tape or padding of some sort (should prevent some chipping) while you learn the trick. Then when you feel the board makes it to its wheels most of the time, take the protection off and have fun. Just beware that OS flips can destroy boards faster than any other trick if you continually do them wrong.

I went to Pepboys Autoparts and got a roll of black trim, It's used for the vehicle doors to avoid dings, it comes with 3m adhesive. I put it on most of my decks and it works really well. If the shape is a little to curvy used a heat gun and them apply it.

Let me know if you need more info, I have the box I can take a picture and post it.
