    Default Quarter Pipe

So today I found this wicked skate shop that has like a mini park in the back of it, and I got to try a quarter pipe for my first time. I was able to make a slick couple of rounds on it, never really pulling anything. Tracking the coping a couple times with my back truck, nothing exstensive. So my question, is there any real difference in performance on a pipe and the size wheel being used?

oh...and any tips on some cool stuff to try?

I ride some 66mm street G's on coping, and I dont encounter any problems with that size wheel. Never rode anything larger tho...

That's a little large, Brah. If you're going to be toying with the coping, they might hang up a bit, maybe something in the 60-65mm range is something you might wanna try. There's dozens of wheels in that size to check out, see if someone will lend you some to try. Me, I dig the Bulldog Shogo Conicals in the soft pour 85a, they like coping long time.

Probably nothing, but you could get some slippage on really smooth park transition. I used to slide out alot on over turned revert type stuff with my 97a wheels but I stick pretty good with the 92a wheels I use. But that could be just because of my lame skills combined with kick arse smooth parks.

not much just the 92a feel better becasue you don't feel every litttle imperfection on the entire ramp. plus they wear strange

okay, so got my old nash out and was rocking that today, one word

I got up on the coping and ****, rocked 50/50's. It was bomb. I must say tho, I respect those who rip up the pipe and look slick with simple little carve's and pivots more then any of those ollie poppers and kickflippers. Theres something so sk80's about it all....mmmm...need to skate a bowwl....

    Is it much different?

oh also, I wear wrist guards and today some guy made a passing little comment about how I looked quite the fool, he then clocked his wrist rockin' and rollin' n' walked out whincin'... [/i]

half or full cab rock, go up backwards, kickturn into a rock, then roll for the 360, or come out fackie for the 180.

ive been hittin the quarter pipe lately myself. its tons o fun. so far i can frontside and backside grind, rock fakie(sloppy) and get 3 wheels over the coping backside on a 6 footer. ive also been frontside carving the 6 footer and doing 360 slides to fakie low on the 7 footer, has a nice surf feel to it. low with one hand down. i need to get better with my frontside kickturns and fakie. im relearning this at 36 years old! when i was younger all we had was a bank(we would grind a parking block we put on top) and a launch ramp. real ramps are a blast, i wish i had access to some earlier.
