i want to learn how to do standup slides and shuvits. i have a vanguard with randals and for wheels i can use either 92a flashbacks, 83mm 78a flywheels, and lime zigs. wats the best setup of wheels to do each trick? i was thinking 92a flashbacks for slides and lime zigs for shuvits because they are lighter then flywheels. also any tips on how to learn the moves before i go out and try for myself?

the wheels don't really matter for shuvits i don't know about stand ups, i can't do them yet. but to practice if you have popsicle deck lying around practice shuvits on carpet. but when you actually try to do them with a longboard its more of a swing to a flick. what may help with the swing is just swinging the board a 180 then eventually start swinging it then flicking. adam and adam show how to do it on one of the loaded challenges but i'm not sure which one. and one tip my friend gave me for the shuvits is just to swing with your legs and not so much your upper body, it makes them easier to land
For standup slides, I would first try learning them on a shorter board if you have one, I can't really explain how to do them in words. Just shove it around with your back foot but put more weight on the front so the back goes around easier.
For shuv-its, you'll need to know how to nose manual for a few feet atleast. Once you can nose manual, just nose manual and shove the board around in the motion of a shuv-it. Don't try to pop it like a normal skateboard, just shuv it around.
for standup slides i learned how to do so on an earthwing drifter so it was easy. All you do is a put lot of weight on your front foot and twist your hips, and as you tdo so bring your back foot around. Again, the front foot should feel like the center of the turning point, and as you finish the turn squat down to put pressure on the board and stabalize yourself.
ps
start off by squating a little and "depressurize" by lifting weight off of the board(hard to put into words just go out and try it).
Sunday I'm all over it though, weather is supposed to be nice; 50 degrees and sunny.
dam our weather is pissing me off. we get a big snowstorm then it goes up to about 45degrees so it all melts into wet messy streets and then just as it starts to dry up were scheduled for another storm tonite! gahhh. i need to move to a warmer place
