have any of you guys tried cross stepping on a vanguard? I have been trying it a little and it is pretty hard. Just wondering if you guys had any tips for me
loadeds are hard boards to step on, b/c of the flex, but it can be done, and with style. Just stick with it, and you'll be walking all over the place in no time. Oh, and remember to point your shoulders forward, as well as your toes, that helps a lot. Good luck, and have fun!
I like cross stepping on the vanguard, sometimes I find it easier than on a dancer. Plus when you do get it down it feels a lot better than on a stiff plank. But that's just me...

It feels really good but is also hard to do. Angle your feet to match the curves of the board. If you get them on the right angles (they'll be pointed pretty much towards the nose), and start at the very very back of the board, even a little on the back baseplate, then you'll have enough room to really dig into the steps.

the way i learned to cross step was to start steppin on my stiff speedboard at slow speeds as the trucks are tighter and it is stiff. after i could do that effortlessly on my barrage i started doing it on my vanguard, flex 5 to! You'll get the hang out if, as i personally like cross stepping on a vanguard, as the flex is just so darn fun.

I tried staying farther back on the board and it seemed to help. I will try re-positioning my feet tomorow. I would try it on a stiffer board, but the problem is I only have my vanguard. So I will have to learn on that.
I learned to cross step on me flex 3 pintail, just takes time
Something I learned is to shift you weight to you front foot quickly
so instead of putting you front down then shifting your weight
put your weight on your front foot as you put it down
does that make sense?

MY cross step is best on my vanguard and its really flexy .
Its not impossible but it is slightly difficult and does take time to get used to the flex.

well, I was practicing today and I can get my first repitition down almost every time. My only problem so far is getting my foot on the toe side edge on my second step. I also am running out of room on my patio so I might have to go somewhere else for further practice.
