    Default Sliding Help

I have a sector 9 teardrop shaped board that is fairly long approx 5' with the sector 9 trucks with soft shorty's doh doh bushings (the blue ones), sector 78a wheels and angled risers with the shorter part pointed inward. Every time I get low and lean back to do a slide i either just end up turning without sliding or my board comes out from underneath me side ways. The tension builds up and I end up on my butt on the ground and the board slides down the street sideways on the grip tape. If you can help me please do. By the way i do ot have sliding gloves.

you got the general idea...push yourself harder, turn tighter, and get used to it. that's all there is to sliding bro, just adapting to sliding out and controlling it. you won't believe how easy it is once you learn it.
from the heaven i\'ve had, and the hell i\'ve been through... i\'m always comin\' back home to you.

i think hugh r had a thing that talked about how to make cheap sliding "blocks". it was a plastic cutting board cut down and had some straps screwed into it for your hands. they arent racing quality, but i find them very good for slids. also if your not the working person type, they make some cheap strapon sliding things for rollerblade racing. i got 'em for like 5 bucks at Big 5, they are not very good, but they work.

and one last thing, push your back foot more is your not sliding, and if your sliding too much push less with the back foot.
