    Default Sliding flatland

Since there are no hills really close to where I live I've decided to try sliding in a big empty parking. I got the technique right and can start a coleman, but once the board starts going sideways (drifting? not too familiar with terms yet), it brutally stops and either I get pitched over or I just fall on my butt. I'd like to complete a pendulum but it just won't work. So I'm asking if it is possible to do so at kicking speed on flatland on medium rough concrete, and if so, any tips?

it is but it's extremely hard. you could get towed by a bike though or find a parking garage.

you will need loose trucks a short wheelbase and some rock hard wheels.

like my man said...parking structures. i live in a flat little city myself and i gotta travel for good hills...we've found some nice hilled parking lots though, with crazy grades and awesome sliding surface. even found a few garages good for sliding. the problem with garages though, is the concrete surface is brushed horizantally to add traction...and it really doesn't let your wheels break away smooth at all. good luck though man, be creative.

and by the way...rough gravelly surface (not too rough...but not smooth asphalt) in my opinion is the best for sliding. especially if it's the concrete topped off with that tarmac stuff...slides like butter, break away way easier than that butter smooth asphalt. the smooth stuff is hard for me to break on, and eats up my wheels.

It's possible to do a short slide at kicking speed but you're not going fast enough and that's why you stop so suddenly so either kick harder or find some other way to get more speed.

Yeah I know that. I'm really kicking at much as I can though, and apart from traveling to those hills downtown there's not much I can do I'm afraid, that parking lot is pure flatland, no ditches, no access ramps, no nothing. Ah well, I tried.
