so ive been attempting to manual for the past hour and im always afraid that if i lean to far one way and land on either the nose or tail that it will break off. maybe its just that it brand new but i love my dervish and would die if it broke so early on. someone reassure me!
and on top of that... anyone have any suggestions as to the order i should learn tricks on my dervish? or have any videos of dervish tricks...
it wont break, but it will grind big bits out of the tail on the road... I did this on my first manual and let the wood touch the bitumen... and half a centremeter of bamboo got skidded off... how do others combat this? Its such a soft wood that if you did that a coupla times you'd justabout go through the whole board thickness... I try to hang my foot off the end so that if I do overbalance backwards my shoes slide and not my board on the ground but it feels awkward doing manuals like this
OR.... just get a bit of rubber to put on the nose and tail so that when it does hit the ground, nothing will happen to the board. Aesthetically it may not look as nice, but it will still keep you from scratching up the nose and tail. Speed boarders do this a lot to avoid the nose of their board splitting in highspeed crashes. A lot of Wefunks and Rayne hellcats have this. Search around for pics as examples.

put your dervish in your living room on some carpet and jump right in the middle, you will notice it will hit the ground, no biggie you can jump on it till the wheels fall off and it will not break.
