Civ said it best...and no, you don't need hard wheels to slide. i learned on an 44" S9 with pivots, abec 3's, and beat up nineballs... and NOBODY had to teach me, didn't even have to read around or anything...it takes time, patience, and practice. that's it...yes it's that easy.

The whole patience thing isnt my strong point such as trying to bomb a huge hill with trafic the second day i had my board.(i bailed, got some sweet road rash though) I need some tips on getting my board swung around.

Just start the slide like a crouched turn. Then grab the rail/nose and rip that sucker around. I find that I put no weight on the back foot and kinda spin the board under my front foot.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

lean as far as you can over the ground and go fast.grab the board and pull. i learned colemans by laying my left arm down and grabbing the toeside rail with my right hand so i was pretty much laying on the ground. then you dont really need to push f your going fast enough. the board with just slide

Grabbing the rail will feel safer now, but then when you wanna start doing some proper sliding, all you'll be able to do is 180's!! I wish i had never been told to grab the rail as it took me much longer to figure backside pendulums and 360's out!
Agreed. When I first started learning, I could pull off Colemans maybe 25% of the time, without grabbing the rail. I found that buy grabbing the rail, my percentage went up to probobly 75%. I'm trying to get out of the habit now. Cold turkey.
The good times are killing me.

I have much more control sliding without grabbing, the free arm can move up and down to help keep balance as you drift though a turn. Grabbing the rail results in the board going up on 2 wheels and you butt being sanded flat. I do like the feeling of grabbing sometimes tho, depends on the situation. I like the free arm so I can whip it around and do 360`s.

just watch videos of people sliding over and over then go do it...
or think about it in class.....
thats how i usually learn ****....just think in class what exact movements are required.....and i can usually figure them out after that
