um, the top of the page, the 7th choice. Between events and gear. Check the gear section too, and then skim the forum if you want.

you can pump pretty much anything, but your stock set up might not be as easy as a setup that can maybe tightening up your back truck use a harder bushing if you have one and make your front looser might help you learn, slalom type wheels help too, and wedging the front and dewedging the back helps

i think theres several ways to pump and its really not easy to describe how to do it, but heres my description, get some speed, a few pushes, its hard to pump from a stop,
when i pump i use my legs alot, when i turn the board i put extra force using one of my legs, like the back of the board its not like a kick though, its like a thrust, and then when i turn i back i do the same. i can do with both legs in both directions, each time i turn doing this you should feel yourself accelerating if you are pumping correctly

theres another way where you throw your body weight each time you have your board turn

probably the best thing to do is find someone who can pump and skate with them, next is look at youtube videos and try to imitate pumpers movements, its kind of hard to read about it just keep practicing

the best advice is to go and try different things till you can pump, I like to move my arms when I pump, maybe you won't, go try it!

best thing to do would be finding a buddy that knows pumping and learn visually. Or watch tons of youtube videos and get the idea stuck in your mind. Are you stiff when you pump? Be loose and enjoy the ride. Gather a speed of about 5-6 mph before you start. Its hard to pump at slower speeds for a beginner. I can't really explain the motion of the legs and body to well so read www.pavedwave.org about that. Starting with huge carves might help you get hte feel of pumping, you might fall off but dont give up, you'll learn if you keep practicing.

I can pump, I'm just looking to make my technique better, and wish there was a sort of "pumping troubleshooting" thread on here somewhere... something to help figure out if your limitation is in your technique, or something inherently limiting based on your choice of equipment.

Pavedwave offers several suggestions and videos for different techniques, but also skims over or doesn't at all mention even what sort of setup each technique might work better or worse on (equipment selections). They make it sound almost as if it's simply "personal preference" or even "personal style"...

thanks alot. im starting to get it. i can feel my board accellerate now when i weight it, but its not enough to keep me going. it just kinda, gives more momentum to my pushes so i can go farther. ill keep at it.

Thanks, EC - it's getting better. It's been my main focus when I ride this board...

I think I've made a good deck choice, and a great wheel choice. Totally uncertain on the trucks and wedging since I've seen/heard suggestions in so many different directions!
It seems there isn't a "best" type of setup, which almost blows my mind - because pumping is fundamentally pumping, and for it to work, the energy transfer has to happen roughly the same way, person to person. I see a LOT of people riding no wedging, symmetrical truck setups front/back, and NON-inverted kingpins! Strange, strange, strange, because I can't pump my shortboard worth a damn, and I ride moderately loose trucks (seems like it would be that "sweet spot"), and have absolutely awesome bearings in that thing.
But that's people's LDP setup even!

So, I think I need to read around and observe a bit here and there - I'm unsure what question I really should formulate... hard to comment on the scenery when the view is still foggy! (sadly)

for LDP, i always wedge 17' front, and dewedge 11 (12?) back truck.
Always work nicely for me.

Preference from person to person can be very different, especially with the difference in weight.
I personally run bennet with spherical bearings and 129 RTS.
Read & experiment. Eventually you'll get your best setup.
