    Default stand up slides help

    I was working on stand up slides last night.
    I could get it to break out a little,
    but every time I tried a full 180, I would put my hand down...

    SOOOO frustrating,

    def humbling as hell....

    I know it has something to do with weight unweight, and which way you have your shoulders pointed.

    anyone got some pointers for me?

    I did get to play around on a sweet bank it was one of the first times I reall made use of the speed and angle of a bank, mad fun...

    My advice for doing them is to do them fully standing up, and at pushing speed, not going down a hill. Once you have them down pushing, it should be easier on a hill. Its also nice to start off with a tail and nose. Just do kickturns for awhile, then move more and more weight onto the drag side of the board and it should be a little easier for weight transfers on a MAN SIZE board. Also, wind up, then release slowly and controlled, if you just try and reef it around it'll stall mid-way.

    its not just weight/unweight I find, Its also a bit about half jumping. You've got to split second unweight the board edge completely. Its hard to explain without showing you.

    Yeah what Directive0 said.
    The kick turn helps. Stand up with a slight hunch for balance. There is a moment of unweighting as you break. With harder wheels it is possible to push your rear end around too.

    HAHAHAHA, oh frank, you show us the humour in so much of the tedium that is this forum

    yah, standing slides are what I'm into right now. that and really simple but elegant stance changes, and board stance changes. Also... standing slides off of curbs are fun!

    I also forgot to add,

    You need to build up spin momentum with your arms. Like swing them counterclockwise to load it, then swing them full out clockwise and unweight. It sounds sketchy, but when you get everything in the right place, the board complies and you get a nice little "HRRRRRRRRKKKKKKK" sound as your reward. (that was bad onimatopeia I know) (that wasn't how you spell onimatopeia either...) (...am I even using the right word?)

    I dont really wind up alot. I throw my shoulder in and lean back. Then just follow it around or turn it back straight.

    it's more of bringing the back end around with your back leg...get some sliding gloves, pads, and a helmet, get a wet road and do it. there's really not much to it, it's more of just working up the nerves and taking a couple spills. i did my first couple on a flat wet road, 73mm kryptos in the front, cliff sliders in the back. i can do a 180, but after that, i end up a little lower, and left hand always goes down when i try to do the 360...i can nail the 360, and i've done 540's before puttin the hand down too . sergio yuppie makes it look tooo easy...that reminds me, pop in flow and watch him in slow motion for a minute...that helped me alot too.
    from the heaven i\'ve had, and the hell i\'ve been through... i\'m always comin\' back home to you.
