Victoria Advocate | Disney makes a bid for young male viewers with live-action comedy Zeke and Luther'

"Zeke and Luther" follows two best friends who have decided they want to become world-famous skateboarders. Their quest means mastering complicated tricks, entering competitions and taking a road trip to their idol Tony Hawk's childhood home.

An abandoned newspaper building in this Southern California community is home base for the show, where the cast and crew recently worked on upcoming episodes, including a scene featuring a collision between a pair of skateboarders and a large bus.

Doesn't look nearly as good as the original Adventures of Spin and Marty. They got to ride horses and no wimpy-ass helmets or kneepads either!

Checked out the trailers and preview clips. That show looks fantastic! So cool to continually see skateboarding being promoted on a large scale in a positive light. The comedic slant is a great approach. Always refreshing to see skateboarding portrayed as something lighthearted and fun instead of something criminal. Hopefully it will influence the younger crowd to enjoy themselves when skating, instead of emulating some trendy rebel-without-a-clue image.

Who remembers the longboard episode of rocket power? They all had boards that looked like hyper carves and they had a race down the "California Incline". It had pavement so smooth and clean you could eat off it.
