When I was a kid (9-10 yrs old) I got a knock-off bmx bike at KMart for cheap money. It's what we could afford and it looked like a bike, rode like a bike - hell to me it was a great bike!

There was a kid in the neighborhood that thought he was the Fonz - one day he said "Hey man - let me try your bike..." I let him - he tried a few tricks, rode it around the block once, then came back and said "Nice bike man..." Then as he was walking away with his friends he starts shoutin' "Nice piece of crap bike kid, that thing sucks, blahblahblah...".

That day sucked. That kid sucked. I think he's a meth addict now ~~ that's too bad.

I'm drooling here... those look so gnar gnar Imma get me a 5 pack and upgrade them w/ MHS bearings.. they may not turn,they may not ride nice and the wheels won't grip..but I'll bet they spin freely.

In my opinion these cheap companies are what keeps the longboarding scene growing.
My first board was a 4 year-old shot-to-hell hyper-carve sold to me for 20 bucks.
Was it a good board? no.
Did it get me stoked enough to buy a better board? Yes.

IMO, I think everyone should start out with a crappy board just to see how you like it. Theres nothing that pisses me off more than when brand new boarders buy a dervish. I have nothing against Loaded, but I wouldnt have a Dervish be my first board

These boards do keep longboard growing due to the fact most parents don't want to go all out on a first board. Key word, most. Lol. My little brothers each got one of these from my parents after I started talking them with me on DH runs. They're HORRIBLE. I hit up Mile High and got some new trucks, wheels, and bearings to actually make them each rideable. Now, they are actually pretty decent. Better than my first longboard.

i had one of these, it snapped in half on me when i rode over an expansion joint in a bridge, my friends thought it was hilarious tho. that and i had to walk all the way back to my room. fun times

my first board was almost 2 years ago and it was a birdhouse complete for 80 bucks.
now i'm attending maryhill and riding sweet equipment.

i dont know it sells itself

First board is like your first car...A heap of junk that doesnt look, run or smell good. But the main thing is that it runs (or in this case, rolls).

In the quest to make a good, affordable board, I ordered what I call a generic longboard-esque deck. It's a US-made, 7-ply deck. Nothing super special, but it has potential. Even if I didn't mark the deck up one cent, however, I couldn't even come close to the price of $69.95 (for a complete).

I would love to be able to offer a kick-ass $99 complete, but I don't think it's possible if I want the majority of the components to be US made.

Man, at least you make an effort to get a cheap all US board. I wish I had contact with someone like you when I first started skating.

Right now, the deck and wheels are US-made, but I'm having a hard time getting affordable trucks that'll work for the configuration I have in mind.

why not extend to other "reliable" countries?
canada, sweden, etc

Shipping from outside the US will bump the price up.

I want Indy-style trucks, and right now, I'm leaning towards Ace trucks. They're not US-made, but I stock them now, and they're outstanding trucks for the money.
