I want Indy-style trucks, and right now, I'm leaning towards Ace trucks. They're not US-made, but I stock them now, and they're outstanding trucks for the money.
    ahhh
i didn't take that into consideration.

I got some Ace's for my little brother's $69.95 boards and they are excellent for the price...

I see it as that everyone's gotta start somewhere. I was one of those. My first board (still in great shape, minus some torsional warping) was a Krown, one of those 69.99 boards. It rode great and kept me from eating #### on the messed up sidewalks and got me hooked on riding. I rode it for a while too before borrowing it's wheels for another board. I at a later time upgraded my trucks to Randals, and put some softer wheels on it (which are now on another board..lol) I'm sure now, it would feel completely awkward if I rebuilt it with all of it's stock parts. So yea...gotta start somewhere, better than shelling out over $150 for something that you may not become interested in.

I think Starlite just brought a whole new level of innovation to the longboard market with these creative and totally not repetitive shape... with no s.

A longboard is a skateboard in the same way a MILF is still a mother.

I dont see anything wrong with somebody getting a board that is not very expensive as a starter board. I just think that in most cases, the people that end up buying these boards are going to base there entire opinion of the sport on that board, and their experience with it. Most of these people are not really aware that they are buying an extremely crappy board, and they are going to think, this is a longboard - this is what they feel like - I must not be good at longboarding/this sport stinks. People are absolutely right in saying its better to be safe, and not waste $160 on something you might not really get interested in, but at the same time, these boards are not really giving you a clear picture of what the sport is like, or the capabilities of a longboard. I also think that most people that are motiviated enough to buy a longboard pretty much know from the very beginning (before they even own a board) wether or not the sport is for them. With this considered, some of these individuals would get very discouraged by the difficulty they are having and would think it is more associated with them and their abilities, rather than equipment that does not function properly.

If you now think about if you are going to teach someone how to skate, using one of your boards or imagine having many to choose from. If you had one of these crappy boards in your quiver set up the way they are sold with all stock components, along with several real boards (doesnt matter how expensive). Which one are you going to give that person, in order to give them a realistic idea of the sport, and get them hooked on skating...

I know from experience that if I gave the people I have taught one of these crappy boards to try for their first time, they would have walked away from that expereince with a Completely different opinion of the sport. Especially if you are showing a street skater, who may be interested in trying longboarding. They are really going to think it is lame, purely because the board is lame.
