i kind of doubt it, but the photo might be rigged. if anyone has seen the Nike Debacle video (a kickflipper movie, but talent none the less) they have cut-scenes that have vandalism in them, but in the credits, it's mentioned each stunt was rigged.

i doubt it for this, but you never know.

Yeah you touch on a really interesting thing here.
The idea of punk has changed so much over time that people really don't realize that
the the straightedge kids nowadays are punk(yesyes Minor Threat, anyways..), the people that play Christian praise music on the mall down town are punk, the kids that like you said, skateboard and not breaking things are punk, by holding a skateboard and being courteous, that's why now whenever I go into town with my board I try to be as nice to people as I possibly can, (not because I want to be PUNX HARDCORE) but it just spreads good vibes for our sport.

This is true, but I feel that kind of art that takes talent(and let's face it Banksy is a genius)

As far as I know they didn't spend 5 hours making a stencil to go break a phone booth with.
I don't know if you have any experience with stenciling but it's hard stuff, I mean it's easy when you know how, but it takes time, and patience

I guess people like advertising like that though for the same reasons that people listen to ICP, shop at Hot Topic. It's just stupid but it's a way for butt ####### retarted teenagers/young adults that hate their live to "fight the man" and be hardcore

I wouldnt call Banksy vandalism...id consider it art, and pointing out problems in the world, just my making a few grey, ugly walls look a little better.
I dont see how breaking the side of a phone booth is art, showing any problems with the world, or making it look any better than it is...

Maybe the kid was thinking that we spend to much time in our safe bubbles of glass. 5 star crash rated cars with tinted windows driven home and into the garage. Pull the blinds over you windows and hide from the world. Then back to your cubicle at work.
Its a metaphor for breaking boundaries and opening people up to the world. He thinks it's absurd that someone can't stand to make a public phone call without being privately sheltered from the world. People are scared of everyone and there is very little trust. That kid is forcing us to trust the person next to the phone.

I applaud him in his effort to breed trust and open a few windows. Its called interpretation bitch.

I mean, I admit I don't like the whole living in a box thing and occasionally the walls of that box should be broken...figuratively

I should clarify one HUGE point...this is not an ad...it's kinda like a parting shot, or "something else" or "extra" that you see in other skate mags.

If it were for shoes, I can understand it...I mean, skate shoes need to be sold with an attitude....don't they?!

Perhaps this photo was put in there just to be controversial.

What's funny is that if they really wanted to be controversial they would show a photo of a longboarder or downhill skater...or slalom skater...that would set their readership and advertisers off!
