Keeping advertisers happy or keeping your supporters happy. Doesn't sound liek the balance was struck this time around....

It's as if you guys think you have the right to complain about something you get for free. If you dont like it,... well its not as if you wasted money on it.

Man.... there was countless hours working on the Easy Ride video we produced for this DVD. It is unique and purposely different than the run-of-the-mill-skateboard-borrrrring-video. Both Brandon the director and I took on this project as a work of art. In my opinion we succeeded and is worthy of a short film or advertising award.

It is difficult to please all when producing an evolution like DVD. Some people like watching cool skate moves, others do not. Cool-skate-move-video's need to be included, even if they are boring to some. Evolution however should be a mix of traditional and cutting edge material.

Cutting edge usually comes with a price tag. I was lucky enough to know Brandon who really is a talented film maker and wanted to go for it on our limited budget. If you don't have the bucks or don't know someone who has talent it is difficult for a small company on a limited budget to do much more than a typical skateboard video. Shi#&t..... I've see big frigggin companies do stuff that is worst than on this DVD.

So, yup there are some not great and a couple of great video's on this but.... hey.... it's free, people put lots of effort and money into what you are watching so enjoy and fast forward through what doesn't work for you.

    Good job Michael!

The roarrockit video was not to my liking. I think it would have been better if it had incorporated more skating. I guess it was too abstract for me. Also it was mildly creepy and made me feel weird.

I think the video's overall have stepped up and the evolutions DVD did not depict the level of filming/editing/riding we have become accustomed to. The idea that anyone could send in video clips and get into the DVD is neat but i think it's along the lines of "I would never join a club that would allow me to be a member". Only the best of the best should make it into the movie. It would push people to create better videos with the idea that "Only the really good videos go into this DVD, maybe if we work hard to make a quality production our video could grace the same gigabytes that hold loaded/rayne/earthwing/whatever's new video."

    Thats my two cents

    Just something to ponder over....

The fact that it's 'free' shouldn't be an excuse for sub-par content. Actually it should be the reasoning for containing 'better than average' content as many more people will be exposed to it due to it being 'free'. Think of it this way. If say, a band gave out an EP/LP for free online and it was pretty well below par, would you really give said band the benefit and check out their products for actual sale... 99% of people wouldn't, with good reason not too. ALWAYS put your best foot forward

That said, it wasn't alllll that bad... but definitely not above the somewhat average youtube fodder. (which really is a shame)

PS: as someone with a degree in animation, i can really appreciate the roarrocket piece... but as a skateboarder watching a skate dvd, it was completely out of place and had no real validity to be on there (especially since other videos that actually contained good skating were left off)

Props Ted. Easily the best and most well made production on the whole DVD. Very well done.

and was the moral of the story that longboards get you laid, or longboards make your penis bigger?
