I don't know what it's like in Cali, but here the cops are slow runners, and a bit slow in general. It doesn't take more than a fence or side street to get gone.

calling a cop an asshole isn't against the law and while it's not smart, it's not illegal.

the cop threatened him, plain and simple. To KD, he didn't word it differently. what he said was a threat of physical violence, which IS ILLEGAL, cop or not.

I would like to post a long emotionally driven speech about how all cops are unnecessarily assholes but there are enough on this thread already. The kid shouldnt have talked back, but why couldnt the officer have just said "alright kid thats your opinion, now get out of here". Why does it always go to, "now your going to jail or ima kick your ass". All cops are so ready to power trip its sort of ridiculous. Ive concluded that one of the requirements for becoming a cop is a penis no longer then 1.5 inches and a serious need to overcompensate.

But what it really always boils down to is, "**** the police"

However even with some major ass kissing ive still been harassed for abnormally long amounts of time for no reason other then i was riding a board strapped to wheels.

No, i'm not a cop, i don't know anyone whos a cop and im not disagreeing that the ones weve seen in videos and personally delt with are assholes. but the fact of the matter is the majority of them are not, just doing there job, so you should stop acting like they shouldnt exist at all, because everything would be a lot shittier without them. on a different note, you said you wouldn't be anrgy over what a kid said, which is fine, but that doesn't change the fact that he's still a little disrespectful cvnt that deserved that entirely so idk how you could possibly take the kids side on that one. the choking was out of hand. How am i ignorant, every cop ive encountered has been an asshole even after ive kissed his ass. And ive still never been an asshole to a cop. The fact of the matter is that these are essentially adults with badges harassing little teens for "playing". I mean, eventually in your life you should grow up, but people like you, and most cops havent.

Have you ever looked into a cop's eyes? They are the creepiest breed of people. They are simply authority-seeking losers. Sure, there are probably a few good cops out there that actually want to serve and protect, but a majority of them are just douchebags.

Out of the few cops/security guards, this one was mellow. Take the trespassing warning, go on your way, skate at a different place. Be nice. He has the ability to arrest the kid for not having an ID, allowing for more time for processing. If you're going to mouth off to someone with authority, it's not going to go well for either party.

I'm glad the five or six cops that have stopped me skating weren't ass holes.
I usually throw in "sir," "how are you," "have a good day," "how are you," and such, and they usually say that they are only stopping my buds and I because someone called in; they're usually pretty cheery, too.

I don't know, maybe I've had good luck, maybe the smiling, waving, and other peaceful, "I'm not a dick-head skater" antics payed off.

Either way, being mature, kind, and non-aggressive seems to help much more than "cuz you're a ####### dick."

Skategeezer, I haven't found anything before to disagree with you about, but I invite you to take another look at the video. I saw a kid who was sitting quietly until a cop deliberately antagonized him. Respect is a two way street, and that kid said nothing disrespectful until the cop invited him to with his smart-assed comment about Excedrin. Officer Asshole approached those kids looking for trouble and that's what he got. No one with such a chip on his shoulder has any business carryng a gun in the name of the law; one day he'll push the wrong person and someone will die over it.

Very true, kid could have been more considerate. It just blew me away that the cop said no sk8ing in the whole county. As far as Altamont goes-- I dont know the geography of the area or the mindset of the people there.

We have all seen the shows COPS, and those guys act pretty professional when they know the camera is on, looks to me like to cop had no idea that this one was on, if he had I'm sure it would've gone a little different.
