Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
The worst thing about skating through piles of leaves for me is that they hide rocks and tree pods.

Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
I slipped two disks in my back skating on wet leaves...
Maybe if my board shot flames out the front, it could at least dry up the leaves if it doesn't burn them.

I believe he was simply trying to create a positive discussion...
no wait, he was hoping for more douchebag comments that degraded the person rather than add to the topic. I was wayyy off.

Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
I honestly think the worst part is when they fly into your face.
And then there happen to be bugs/ants on them, so when you finish your run, there are random bug guts on your face/torso.

Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
i actually dislike the slide that wet leaves give you. i was practicing some slides on my fsm and i decided to slide though a patch of them. i go in, start sliding fine but really fast then i hit actual road and i somehow slide over my board (coleman). i get my fsm and find out that there are leaves grinded into the grip tape. pissed me the **** off.
on another note, i freakin love dry leaves. i feel like a bad ass when im hearing them crunch and just dancing or sliding through them (depends where i am and which board)

Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
Dry leaves and gravel make for a nice intermediate between low traction but not being to slippery.
Wet leaves, you slide out sooo easily, just like rain.

Re: Dealing with falling leaves...
Leaves = not my friend.
I avoid them, mostly. Or sweep them.
One time, the road my brother and I had been skating on for a couple weeks was COMPLETELY covered with leaves. They were the half dead leaves that were yellow, but still had moisture in them. All we had was a kitchen broom to clear the road, which would have taken close to an hour to sweep. Luckily, there was an old guy, 82 years, I think, who came out of his garage with a leaf blower and handed it to me saying, "Sweeping it'll take forever. Try this." Needless the to say, the road was clear in a couple minutes and we skated for an hour or so before that same guy walked to the top of the hill, and after catching his breath, told us some of the homeowners in the neighborhood wanted us to leave. It was a shame, because everyone there was super nice.
Back on topic, I'll sweep leaves out of the way or avoid them. I prefer to stay standing, if I have a choice.
