Apple iPhone App ...need your ideas for contest...

I don't have nor will I get one in the future but I do know a handful of longboarders who have them. I think the most useful features that I'd love to see would be those previously mentioned, the bushing chart, GPS speedometer/spot tagging, maybe something that records your highest speed, recording distance travelled, and if possible sharing spots you love to ride on some kind of database. But mainly the Distance/Speed thing. I would see that being the most successful. An image gallery is a good idea, but can't iPhones just go online too? So there's already that option. You need stuff that you can't just find online. Pics and stories are kind of static and not the thing you want to be doing while riding down a hill. Implement something useful for people WHILE they're riding too, and you'll have a popular app. Again, not sure how do-able that stuff is but I'd say try for it.

Just snagged this. I'm not really seeing anything useful on it right now, but hopefully it will evolve and I'm glad to support CW and SF.
One immediate suggestion is get some good CW covers up in the pictures section. Ones that we can save and use as wallpapers.
It's just full of poorly cropped advertisements right now.

this is just all gearing up....not only can you get your 99 cents back at a number of online shops, but you will eventually see special members only discounts at some of these shops.

this is all early days.

my strategy is to eventually move things to the apple tablet...keep the printed mag, of course, but make distribution online via that platform.

we just needed to stake a claim....and this has definitely moved me forward

Very very good idea launching an iPhone app. The app in it's current state is very cool, but not amazing. It certainly can be though. I really want this app to be something I use all the time, and something that will attract alot of good attention to CW. Here's my ideas for your app Mr Brooks.

-A database of skateparks utilizing gps and your current location, get directions to a park, reviews, pictures, videos, etc... (filter based on distance, and rating. Something like yelp or where am I...)
-A database of skateshops utilizing the same features as above and links, contact info, etc...
-A calendar of events, competitions, races and such, which highlights events in your area, as well as out of state. (like iConcert Calendar)

Glad you liked my ideas for the app. As far as for the competition, howabout pictures of a session with your skatecrew/skatescene. Pic with the most people wins. It would be challenging to get everyone you know together for a picture to really show how big your scene is, but that's the fun part right! You could then post up all the pics on the pictures section of the app, and/or do a highlight of the contest and the different skatescenes in the mag. This would do alot to spread the word about the app, and CW and SF, and would provide a pretty cool opportunity to highlight the different groups of skaters out there that are killin it together and growing the sport. It would be awesome for someone new to an area or new to skating to see what's happening in their local skatescene.

Anyone else think this would be cool, fair, and feasible?

2 ideas.
Picture of the day would be cool. Something that draws me in to check it out, at least for a moment, each day.

I surf the Internet often on my Iphone but don't like reading the Fish because it loads slow and is very busy on such a small screen. Maybe make a "mobile" optimized version of the Concrete Wave forum so it's easy to browse on the Iphone. Other websites have alternate versions for mobile devices.
