He touched many, and will be missed by many.

The blurb in SI brings up an interesting point: many of the "heroes" we claim for Skateboarding, are/were surfers first and foremost. It is/was their first priority over skating. This goes ignored by most skateboarders - maybe because most are landlocked. If I was to interview well known Californian and Hawaiian skateboarders, I think I'd ask them if they had to give up either surfing or skating, which they would choose to keep. Have you asked this question of anyone Michael?

    Slim
you again, nail it...man, i have railed for years about the deep respect and appreciation that surfing shows for its heroes...on and off the water and the different ways that skateboarding treats its roots (hint: it's good, bad and it can get quite ugly!)

I have only surfed 2 times..both badly, but I have a profound respect for surfers and I am so drawn to water. The spiritual satisfaction that surfers derive from the water is something that is so powerful, that it gets carried on from generation to generation.

If skaters latch onto even a 1/4 of this pure stoke (which I think is happening) then skateboarding will begin to really explore its rich history.

Warren Bolster left a true lasting legacy in skateboarding...just like Fausto did...

in the next issue we are going very very deep into the spiritual side of skateboarding and i am sure it will freak a lot of folks out...hey, when was the last time you read an 18,000 word essay in any magazine, let alone a SKATE mag...

I know there are thousands of skaters looking to explore and celebrate their feelings about skateboarding and this forum provides one outlet...the magazine is another and books still another....

all I can say is that we are just getting warmed up...lots and lots more to come

and yes, it's going to get very emotional and spiritual...and GNARLY too!

which, I believe is how skaters like it!
