Re: Thought I'd Mention this Contest...
That video is histerical! Why? because that's almost exactly the way we skated on the boards in the 70's. Now, when I get my retro boards out, I ride them the same way. The shuvit was a little sporty, but people were doing variations of them for sure then, as well other footwork moves. It is very reminiscent of when the RR4 style wheels gave way to the red Krypts, and you just rolled and rolled.
One of my favorites right now is a 23" aluminum double kick that will turn around in 3ft, no exageration. I play hockey on it, while my son plays on his skates.
Are a lot of the skaters that have been street skating, or vert skating, or whatever for the past 15-20 years finding something insanely different on the little short turny boards? When all the old guys are talking about "just riding", everyone is thinking about tricks or air, but when they get on one of these little turny boards, they just ride too. It is a total blast.
I dont have or need a GFH because I already have genuine oldies, but I cant wait to see these videos.
My comments represent a selfishly one sided 1970's skateboarder mindset, and do not reflect the current fashion-skate-lifestyle industry's views.
