It made me realise how i can help the world around me, and its helping me in doing so!

3D design (modeling trucks, wheels etc.)
and travelling to places i would have never seen.

It helps me forget about things like politics and responsibilities, and everyones needs an outlet.

It makes me feel young also, and makes me aware that although I'll turn 40 in a couple weeks I'm way more fun than most 40-year-olds. Even if I do have more knee problems.

It got me into photography also. So much that my profession is photography, and I have a really fun job, adding to the fact that I'm happier than most people in the world.

Skateboarding is an escape for me. It's a nice zen zone where I usually don't think to heavily about the B.S., and if I do it's with a perspective that makes it all seem trivial.

Just remember that skateboarding would not exist in a non-trashed earth. All the concrete and asphalt we require is ugly and destroys the environment. I say it's worth it though. I'm selfish that way.

Anyways... I doubt we're going to find much common ground on the way skateboarding has affected (effected?) us, at least as far as the things Michael listed goes. think it's pretty clear that skateboarding includes all types. I mean, one of the gnarliest skaters ever votes republican and drives around in a new mercedes between slash grinds or bare-chested loop-de-loops. (did that hint give it away?). I find this quite baffling considering how I feel my life skateboarding dovetails with my own liberal, tolerant, DIY, independent worldview - I find it hard to believe someone could skate and go through all it entails and then tow the status-quo line in the rest of their life. But clearly, many people can. Somehow.

Too true...I was thinking the same thing. But skateboards are clean vehicles, like bicycles. And who ever heard of a road that was made for skateboarding?

We're just making the most of what people have done, and appreciating the environment while we're at it.

For me though, skating has just been a casual escape from work, and school and other daily pressures and annoyances
