Re: ipod phone and marketing skateboards...
I'm waiting until the jury returns before taking the plunge, as I have with
the Sidekicks. Unashamed tech-junkie, and consumer du jour. The "more
is less" ideology of these types of products streamlines a number of our
day to day tasks, what's not to like ( excepting the launch price ) ?. Evolution.
Skinart is correct regarding P&G and ConAgra, sprinkling in a few others. You
aren't obligated to buy their products, but likely will due to convenience / apathy.
There are beaucoup alternatives out there, check them out.
There are no dominant Street / LB manufacturers as of yet, guess it will be left
to Nike, S9, or a similar revenue-generating machine to exploit. The big boys
seem reluctant to expand their horizons in this direction, and likely because
marketing research has proven repeatedly that longboard products have never
provided the profit margins enjoyed by "outsourced" street gear. Longboarding is
still a niche sport, it just seems larger on sites like Silverfish and NCDSA.
This leaves us with the pleasant dilemma of selecting quality goods from smaller
independent companies, albeit at an inflated bottom line. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Re: ipod phone and marketing skateboards...
The only thing I find obnoxious about the technology revolution is that it hasn't really made life much easier. How is everything advertised? It's said you'll have more and more free time and life will be easier if you use this more advanced product. The truth is, the more technology we build, the faster and more complicated our lives are becoming.
This device is going to be hailed as something that streamlines and simplifies the cell phone, mp3, movie player and pda market. In reality, it's just another device we have to work to learn, work to manage, and work to fix whenever it breaks... while the real productivity advances are slight.

Re: ipod phone and marketing skateboards...
believe or not i was just checking up prices here in UK, and people are already biding more then 50GBP for and email account with name " iphones2buy@googlemail.com" therefore buying the rights for this email account.
That makes me think how people can waist money in a email account rights, now wtf?

that is exactly the way we are trained to sell that stuff, and i agree with you.. it just makes it so that you are expected to answer work emails from home, and are expected to do more work in a shorter amount of time.. it realy just blures the lines between work and personal time so that we have to do work for free. Thats what i think anyway, i have to carry a blackberry for work and i shut it off when im not on the clock, i do not work for free, but my boss is on vacation in hawaii right now, and still answering work emails, its disgusting how it seems that our workplaces seem to think that they are our life, when realy we should just be working so that we can live..

i can't agree more... i will stick with my LG... it doesn't do hardly any of the stuff like the hone does, including break easy. It has been dropped, thrown, broken into pieces and still works.
On the other hand, my new $300 PMP fell out of my sweatshirt pocket today and bent the side, screwing up the hold button. So i think i might be using that a little more sparingly.

My old phone was an LG, it was just a plain phone, no camera or nothin.
And that thing took some massive abuse. Dropped, thrown, falling outta pockets when bombing, slamming on it in a bail, had gone swimming with it 3 or 4 times.
It worked perfectly fine, untill one day when it got totally snapped in half.
But luckily my contract ended in less than a week.
