It'd be cool to see it officially sanctioned, though. What is it about this Sweeney clip that keeps it popping up every fortnight or so?
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

I'm hoping we do this in Salem OR as we did a couple years back. Dong and Tay Hunt were fastest - Gareth was the only one consistently running clean. I think 100 cones clean is a must for the "record"
1st Michael Dong Fastest resultant time: 24.5736
2nd Tay Hunt Fastest raw time: 23.7439
3rd Gareth Roe 3 clean runs!

Re: running cones in 1991for Guiness Book of World Records
I think the course for the record should have a predetermined cone spacing. I also agree with a clean-only requirement.
My understanding is that the course on Sweeney's record run had 6'-0" spacing. The more recent record used a closer spacing, something like 5'-9" to 5'-6". At 5'-6", the course would be 50'-0" shorter than at 6'-0".
I recall a discussion at slalomskateboarder.com where some concluded that the course could have any spacing and any number of hit cones. Somehow I just don't buy that. What's the point? Why not just make the course 2'-0" spacing then and run it on roller blades?
I'd like to see more comments from those who agree or disagree.

Set up 100 cones with no spacing and plow all of them on a speedboard on the steepest hill you can find. That reduces the start to finish to 43.75 feet. And the extra hair would no longer be a pumping advantage, but rather create drag.

I'm putting a tiny cow catcher on the nose of my speedboard right now. I'm even wondering if we could just stack the 100 cones and hit them all in one shot.
