skateboarding is just a scapegoat, in this case, (also a weapon) we could in all retrospect blame it on that wicked fight scene in the movie "kids", or we could blame it on bad parenting, or better yet, lets blame it on society ..yadda,,,yaddda..yadda..#### .look at the other side of the fence, what would you all do to some rich guy in a lexuz who just hit your friend with there car do.....??? MAbye he was the one that started ****??? remeber there were no witnesses, and if they were parked at a light why couldn't they just have driven away??? (i know they might have hit one of them but its self defense....) "for no apparent reason" normally means #### went down and nobodys talking.....I feel bad that someone got hurt I really do....YOU can't believe the media, remeber that people

I dont know if this has been said but I didnt really want to go through 3 pages so here's my 2 cents. First off how did the guy get hit so many times. There is no way he was in the car when this happened. Which leads me to think he was doing something to provoke the skaters. Also I agree that this should definitely not point the finger at skaters as a community. Its like saying if somebody killed someone with a bible they wouldn't say "Person killed by Church going other" or something like that. But seriously that does go beyond being a skater. Its stupid how people do something so senseless for what?

I have not heard back yet from Jason. (victum) With the storms and the emotional issues from the attack that are being dealt with, I am not surprised.

I am working with my bank and they want a beneficiary name in order to set up a trust fund account. Because we do not know who the beneficiary will be, we are looking at other options. The $10,000 that I am contributing is in my own bank account. I wouldnt feel comfortable taking your money and holding on to it, so I am working with the bank to figure something else out.I will let you know what is going on as soon as I know.

I'm not donating a cent until I'm sure that this car didn't hit the skaters first or tried to or was in some other way "asking" for it. I've seen that kind of thing happen too many times. I'm not justifying the "attack," but need more info. Similarly, I wouldn't donate a cent to those kids who got attacked by the tiger at the SF zoo until the police have ruled out the kids provoking the tiger or whatever. We need more info.

Yeah, and how many innocent black men did your ancestors hang from trees just cause some white chick said a "black man" raped her and the mob responded, "hey, there's a black man now. let's get 'em!" That's why we in California don't play that way in news reports. I'm sure the cops have full descriptions of the suspects but their race has no bearing on this "attack" and there is no reason to stir up feelings against any particular group by describing their race. What are you going to say if they turn out to be white or asian or latino or black? What difference does it make? Are you going to make some sort of racist comment about "those" people?

And did you look up the crime statistics to see how many more people were hit with golf clubs than skateboards last year? I would guess it's about ten golf clubs to one skateboard.

I understand Slim. I am looking into that between me working two jobs. All I know that I have not read that the peoples in the car were charged with anything such as using the car as a weapon for example. If the kids riding a skateboard were innocent in anyway, I would have expected one or more to come forward with their side of the story. I have not seen any skaters involved come forward challenging the people in the car for what was truth or fiction.

We can stand toe to toe with anyone and call them names and be protected with freedom of speech. Its when someone decides to act upon their anger, with fist or weapon (skateboard) then the law becomes clearer of who can be at fault.

Dad..in print and online, certain details are purposely omitted. Sometimes its from the police departments, sometimes its from the newspaper. I can understand if both had left out the race on purpose. Its happens all the time. San Jose is a very diverse city with its K-6 schools teaching 48 different languages. No need for race in the article when they are looking for any witness seeing a dozen youths/adults wearing dark clothing at 1am in the morning...riding, carrying skateboards.
