Re: Pack Of Mad Skateboarders Pummel Newlyweds
From Daddy YoYo's blog
"Last weekend two Parks Police came to the park and failed to issue any citations to skaters without helmets although they were skating in full view of the Officers.
I cannot say enough in support of the Parks Police despite a spotty record of citing skaters without helmets."

Sorry, out clubbing seals...
I am not dealing with this, I have deferred to the experts...and frankly, the pot seems to be getting stirred so often by the same chefs, that it's eating into my seal clubbing time.
I have made my wishes know to Ebasil...
he has the technology to deal with this...
now, where did I put my 9 iron...

Re: Pack Of Mad Skateboarders Pummel Newlyweds
Before I start, I think I should tell you all that I found a penny today. Its was just lying on the ground so I picked it up. Its not shiny or anything...kind of tarnished. Still I'm quite happy with it. It was a US one, minted in 1969, a very good year. Moon landing and all that. I think US pennies are some of the nicest in the world. But if you'll indulge me I'd very much like to move away from pennies for a moment.
First, as to the topic of this thread, I think skateboards are awesome, except when used to bludgeon someone. Thats just not what they are for. Plenty of devices suited to that purpose. I guess what I'm trying to say is that skateboards are poorly equipped to the task of hurting people and so probably shouldn't be used for it except when the situation warrants it and I'll leave that up to you.
THAT being said, I think people make poor targets for bludgeoning. Plenty of other things you could bash. Trash cans, for instance, make a satisfying metal sound when struck sufficiently as to produce harmonic vibrations. We should be teaching our kids about the proper things to strike with blunt force. There is a growing trash epidemic in America, lets put the youth to work bashing trash? Indeed there are is a large variety of various metal objects that make satisfying "ping" noises when struck that could serve as a better outlet for these youth. Just a thought.
Seriously though, its most unfortunate that those people were hurt in a random and senseless act of violence, even more so that it involved skateboards. But since I was not there and know nothing first hand about the incident that is where my opinion on this subject ends as I don't feel I informed as such to make a moral judgment about anything that happened here.
Pennies, however, I have a lot experience with, so if anyone has any questions about those just let me know.

Re: Pack Of Mad Skateboarders Pummel Newlyweds
i'm sure the victims gave as best a description as they could to the investigating officers. the police have no obligation to release descriptions of the attackers. that said, a group of 12 skaters is pretty hard to miss.
GP, i'd donate to the fund, but i have spend a lot of money in the next few weeks for college/books and stuff. if i have an extra $10 laying around, i'll put it in.

D0, are you a numistmatist? I might have some old pennies that I would love to share with you. That is if you don't mind them smelling of my vagyna and all.....

Merely a casual enthusiast, my good wo/man. My interest lay firmly in found or otherwise unconventionally procured coins. I'm sure your collection would have something to my liking. And have no fear, I will not be irked by your odors, as my country is filled with a great many foul and repulsive scent, one learns to ignore them as they must. Wet beaver, for example, is particularly powerful.

Re: Pack Of Mad Skateboarders Pummel Newlyweds
was it really necessary for them to put so much emphasis on the skateboards in that article? I can understand saying that once or twice, but now anyone who reads that is going to think that every skate boarder they see there on is one of the kids or just like them. I almost want to complain to NBC or who ever wrote that. I feel horrible for the victims and would help if i could. What kinda people would do that?!

I can't decide if this the real DaddyYo or if someone has brought his account back to life with a spot-on parody. If it's the latter, bravo for the perfect job!

Re: Pack Of Mad Skateboarders Pummel Newlyweds
yeah, it's sad but true - the fact that one skates really isn't an indicator of worth as a person. I mean, I think of all the people I know who skate vs those who don't, and from my personal experience it certainly seems as if skateboarding does tend to indicate that a person might be worth a damn, but really a step back needs to be taken...
I think back to my high school, and how all the prick jocks who I used to play hockey with as a kid turn into pseudo 'hippies' all bumping dave mathews and wearing fashionably ripped jeans and whatnot. I remember having to walk across the drainage ditch in front of some member of this douchey groups house to get to my girlfriends house (small town, no sidewalk) and getting chased by a bunch of jock-turned-'hippies' wielding bats and - you guessed it - a skateboard!
I thought it was so ******* odd to be chased with a skateboard, cause my impressions of the 'skating ethos' if you will was much more informed by 1980's surf culture... where people beat each other all the time, but there was much more of a sense of something, not sure what... something that made hitting people with your skate not a cool thing to do, idk.
sidenotes- come on mods, you guys are so on top of anything getting remotely 'political', whatever that really means, but you let people have totally NSFW borderline porn type avatar. domo kun appearing to be eating out a child? butts/thongs? not cool guys...
those of us who actually buy stuff have jobs, and that's where we surf the fish mostly. fyi.
also, LOL at the guy trying to make this into a race thing. going to be pretty 'funny' if it turns out to be a bunch of white kids from fresno or somesuch (likely, imo).
