Re: skateboard stereotypes...from Curriculum magazine
nah Slim, I don't think anyone was saying that, it was more the other stuff..
Girls-Let's face it, girls just aren't that good at skating and therefore don't belong at skate spots. It has to do with their bone structure and their center of gravity. Don't be mad that you suck ladies, it's just science, and you can't argue with that. We all know that if Elissa Steamer had a #### and balls she would have never gotten sponsored.
I remember Elissa in a interview admitting, if she was a guy, no way would she be sponsored.
But the main point is that skateboarding have low women participation thus low ability level. Once the talent pool increases, the ability will rise.
Just like surfing or snowboarding.
Regardings participants, I would like to see the participation numbers for surfing and snowboarding. In the current issue of CW, there is a Mimi Knoop interview. She states that 25% of skateboarders are women, 3 million, up from 11% from a couple of years ago. I don't know if I believe that 25% statistic, but there definitely seems to be more female talent these days.
At my local park, it's still quite a rarity to see a female skater. But I always enjoy watching girls skate, especially when they are good.
