    Hell yeah for middle America!
Three bucks a gallon here, suckas!!!

Eventually, people will need jobs just to be able to afford the gas it takes to commute to and from their jobs.

Explain how President Bush is responsible for over 600 MILLION new gasoline consumers in China and India gobbling it up faster than the whole world can produce it? Better yet, explain how President Bush is responsible for this country not building a new GASOLINE REFINERY in over 30 years?

If anyone really wants to know why gasoline is skyrocketing just look at the exponential growth of the middle class in the East.

Type something else really reactionary and stupid lacking in any understanding of what's really going on.

    You mean radical?

Reactionaries would push to add refineries, no?

I agree with you Parallel, it's ridiculous that so many place the blame on Bush.. Every little thing..

Well, if nothing else, maybe this will spur community leaders to build public transportation systems that are actually on time and work round the clock

Before anyone talks about how great their public transport system is, know that you are very much in the minority. Some cities have buses that only run on the hour ( and are often late ) and shut them down after 6 p.m. Which makes it awfully difficult for workers to use them.

it's about alternative ways to go from point A to point B.

Well, I don't know about public transportation. Personally, I'd be thrilled if we could get South Carolina to just construct some SIDEWALKS.

In this state if you don't live dead downtown then you are SCREWED trying to get anywhere without sharing two lanes of blacktop with an ever-increasing number of drivers who have no ####### idea what they are doing (re: moved here from North Carolina and Ohio.)

My problem is my neighborhood is really convenient to everything . . . and isolated. I have two choices: drive a car or ride a bike/walk in the mud on the side of the road. Hopefully, the priorities are changing. For 70 years there were bridges across the Cooper River with no shoulder, median or walk space. With the new Bridge they made it a point to include a huge walkway from one side of the harbor to the other. Maybe now the folks with the cash will start retrograding some more roads and highways and make it possible to get around on something other than four wheels.

Once again Michael is trying to wage war between us Americans. He just sits at his home and laughs at how he can get people all pissed at their government...but then again I know Michael hates his country (haha) and wishes he could live in sunny southern california where we all wear shorts and hang out in the sun all day long. Poor jealous magazine man....

Garrett...1984 just called...Ronnie Reagan wants his brain back.

dude, you live in one of the greatest climates in one of the greatest countries ever...

you KNOW if I LIVED in SOCAL, I'd get nothing done...I'd be hanging out with you and the rest of the gang by the pool skating or bombing hills.

but, sadly, I have as much chance for a green card as you do getting an Uzi through customs here in Toronto...

but then again, here in Toronto, if you fall skateboarding, you don't wind up mortgaging your house just to pay for the medical bills

No need to when there's already a third mortgage to pay the taxes needed to pay for everyone else's care.

Don't forget paying out on the law suit when someone trips and falls on your property and then big lawyer (no not you basil) somes knocking on your door and informs you that you can litigate or just hand over the deed to your home, the keys to your car and hell while your at it give me your kids too....they can work for ten years to help pay off the rest of the law suit.

MB if you lived here we would actually spend those hours talking at the pub rather than over the phone...but then again you would have nothing to complain about....no more bad weather.

Don't forget the surf too aside from just the hills. Love SD

In the past 10 years I've driven from South Carolina to the Northeast maybe 10 times. Every time I go the cheapest gas is on the New Jersey Turnpike. Cheaper than down south or farther up north.

I guess it's the advantage of everyone having a refinery in the back yard.

Actually, the town I used to live in is in fact home to an Exxon refinery that was there since Standard Oil days in early 1900's

wow im glad i don't drive....the cost isn't surprising though. we have extra taxes in cali and that is an out of the way area. that isn't that much different than the prices in the Sierra Nevada towns...like shaver lake near where i live. but these prices are horrible....especially since we are paying to pollute our air. we need to move on to hybrids and full plug in electrics, and also use localized energy like sun, wind, wave or geothermal...whatever is cheapest and most plentiful for where you live.....thats an ideal world for me for realz

Luckily my dad works, and fills up in Jersey.

Anyway, maybe if NYC metro was the shittiest 2$ you could spend in your life, more people would go with that. Maybe if 90% of stations weren't so damn filthy, more people would rather ride MTA, but its not, so alot of people stick with driving.

But I don't know anything, besides, I take a 2 way trip on the train every weekday.
