YOU spoke, I listened...now we have free CW pdf's...
As some of you might have noticed, we are now posting pdf's of our JAN and NOV issues of CW along with the Warren Bolster book here at the Fish.
You might be wondering why?
That's the first sentence from my blog today. For those of you reading this post, you don't need to read much more...You know that I asked about this a few weeks ago.
Well you spoke and I listened and then I acted. Thank you for your thoughts.
Below, is the rest of the blog. But as I said before, if you're already at this forum, you know already what I am about to write.
My thanks to everyone for their support.
cheers
Michael
I have resisted the temptation to put Concrete Wave out as a full pdf for a number of years. Over time, I have begun to realize that if you start a magazine with the idea of trying to change things, the more people you reach, the more success you will have.
In essence, it goes back to what Seth Godin says: IDEAS THAT SPREAD, WIN.
When it comes to information about skateboarding, I know there are literally thousands of websites you can visit. I'd like to think that Silverfish, along with CW become part of your world.
<strong>Make no mistake, we will continue to print the magazine. However, if for some reason, you don't feel like subscribing, or you can't find the magazine in your area, you will still be able to enjoy it. However, the digital pdf will always come out after the new issue hits. So, you won't be able to view the April PDF until Mid June.</strong>
If you like what you see on a screen, believe me you will love what it looks like printed on high quality paper. You'll also begin to see the magazine as a memento - a keepsake for the future. That's why we spend so much money on UV coating, wide format paper and perfect binding...and why we keep it focused 100% on skateboarding.
As for the Warren Bolster PDF's, if you love looking at the photos and reading Warren's insights, then I urge you to experience it as a book. Believe me, it's an entirely soulful experience.
Of all the things I've done, my collaberation with Silverfish has to be one of the smartest. I am truly grateful to Ebasil and Malakai for their generousity, hard work and friendship. THANK YOU guys!
Concrete Wave aims to resonate so powerfully with you that we hope you put it in your will. All I ask is that you spread the word.

Re: YOU spoke, I listened...now we have free CW pdf's...
MOST printed magazines will be a part of our lives...for a number of reasons.
newspapers, however, might have a harder time of things
1. mags are timeless..newspapers are timely (by the time they are printed, the news is old!)
2. mags that resonate with a specific audience might be small, but they will have their place
I am working on a number of things that will make CW better and I am also working things that will make the DIGITAL experience better too.

Re: YOU spoke, I listened...now we have free CW pdf's...
Skategeezer, you rock. That is exactly what I asked for. I have looked for your magazine in retail outlets and not found it. I don't get to the skateshop much because it is 45 minutes away. I mostly order my stuff off the web and skate by myself 90% of the time. I am the isolated longboarder for the most part. By doing this, you are more than likely going to end up with a subscription for the print magazine from me. This gives me the chance to preview the mag and print out the buyers guide if I want to. This is a sound business decision on your part and will more than likely be rewarded by increased circulation and increased advertising revenue. If you could keep track of how many times it has been downloaded and post that next to the DL link, that would be a cool indication of how popular the online versions are...
Good job listening to your portion of the public at large. A reverse pinned salute to you sir!

Cool. I have to run right now, but are the first few issues up? I've been a subscriber since I found out about the mag, but I never saw some of the earliest issues.
Shoot me a PM or an email sometime soon Micheal. I spoke with you last year about a story on one of my skate buddies, not sure if you remember but I won't spill it here. It should make an awesome feature for you, he broke his leg and we couldn't shoot for months but he is skating again as of last week.
