You're having a mid-life breakdown

I was at a bookstore recently and was bugging an employee about why they didn't carry CW. I wasn't being rude or anything. Anyway, a couple of kids overheard me and as I milled around the magazine aisle overheard them saying this in whispers:

Kid 1:"What's a concrete wave?"
Kid 2:"Some shitty magazine for skating adults."
Kid 1:"Huh?"
Kid 2:"Like those mid-life breakdowns when they start doing kid stuff."
Kid 1:"That's gross."

So, apparantly some of us are having gross, mid-life breakdowns

thats funny, i try to have a mod life crysis every year or so, that way i figure ive alway got twise as long to live as ive made it so far.... seems to be working

To the poster who said not to let it bother me, you totally missed the point. That's what the laughing smilie was for. It didn't bother me a bit, I found it very amusing actually.

I don't blame kids, especially teenagers, being weirded out by skaters their parents age ( and some cases,their GRANDPARENTS ages ). Our age group isn't really represented in the XGames after all ( nor necessarily should be unless it's called the SeniorXGames LOL ).

Not all kids feel like that and the ones that don't are fascinated by my weird looking decks. ("How much pop does that have?" LOL ) Then they ask to ride them. But those tend to be the groms not the teens going through their rebellion thing. They have more credibility to lose among their peers if seen laughing and cutting up with old skaters LOL

Michael, maybe if you put under your logo

Perhaps "Not appropriate for closed minded minors or skateboarders"

I always get a kick out o stuff like that. I had a 3 hour sk8 at south park the other day. Always an oppurtunity to laugh back when teens and people that just can't stick their lack of self-confidence where it belongs.

It's no wonder a good percentage of these kids don't wear pads. They are too scared to sk8 and learn stuff. It's pretty different enviroment going into a sk8park that enforces pads and one that doesn't for minors at least.

There is the same generation and age problems in most areas. I magine if these guys din't know Rodney, Hawk and others. Just think what it woud be like if they only knew Schekler?
