RICK MCCRANK STICKS UP FOR ANIMALS IN NEW PETA2 VEGETARIAN AD
Skateboarder Puts Skate Gear and More Up for Grabs in Big Momentum Giveaway at peta2.com

Vancouver, British Columbia — "I am Rick McCrank, and I am a vegetarian," declares the pro skateboarderin an eye-catching new ad campaign for peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. Shown on his skateboard doing a noseblunt in 15 sequential shots, McCrank goes on to say, "I am a professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and father. For me, eating meat feels unnatural." You can view the ad here.

To coincide with the launch of the new ad, visitors to peta2.com can register to win top-flight gear from Momentum Wheels—which McCrank co-owns—including wheels, bearings, T-shirts, posters, and more!

McCrank's fluid command of the skateboard earned him the title of "Best Street Skater" in 2000 in Transworld Skateboarding magazine. Skateboarding is still his passion, but these days you can also find the Ontario transplant at Anti-Social, the Vancouver skate shop and art gallery that he also co-owns.

Rick, I agree. **** PETA. A lot of people do not realize some of the more nefarious ideals of their less publicized campaigns. Like making it punishable by law if you don't chip your pet.

And btw, vegatrianism does just as much harm to the environment as anything else. They talk about the dignity of animal life etc etc, but nevermind that in order to grow vegetables and fruit, whole groups of life are affected and killed off. Entire ecosystems. But birds and insects and other plants aren't as innocent looking as baby cows, so they ignore them.

plants are good and way more sustainable than cows...elemental you know that cows eat a ton of grain and feed right? and we don't get the same amount of food that we put in them, which is why most meat is pumped with GH. LERN YER ####

the internet turns people into a bunch of mis-informed bandwagon hoppers. theres a bunch of conspiracy theorists out there who make legit looking websites and videos or whatever but alot of the info out there is just plain false.

I've known Rick for a long time. He used to watch me and the team do demo's in the late 80's. In 93' he walked into to the Boys and Girls club where I was re-building the ramps and going to open a small shop.

He offered to help. We would go sk8 after some work. I before the ramps we'r finished. It didn't take long for me to notice his incredible un-harnissed talent (not that my intent was to harness him but simply to improve his skating and try to prepare him for his ineviable Pro career). I let him know I was oppening a shop and would be glad to Coach and sponsor him.

He used to show up in the middle of the afternoon and ask for chocolate bar. It was a sign that he hadn't eaten anything at all yet that day. I would send him next door to pick up a burgar or somethig a little better then candy. he went on to do very, very well and I am glad he is at least being a role model for many and hasn't forgotten where came from.

The guy never rode a new deck until I met him (except once when I think his friends dad boutgh him one) his had to work very hard to do be able to pull off what he has in life. He chose his path. Good for him. Like it or not.

I like my meat and over the last several years have been eating a healthier mix of foods.

I think this forum can handle stuff like this...

Folks like Rick, Tony Hawk, Jamie Thomas have a huge influence over kids...

but, and the interesting point for me is how diverse their influence is.

For example, Hawk shills for Mickey D's in the UK and Rick does his stuff for Peta...

As for Jamie, he's been very active with religious affairs.

So there you have it..religion & politics mixed together with skateboarding.
