first of all this sucks and if i were the dad i would kill myself, there is no way that i could live with the fact that i killed my son, and i would feel that i deserve to be in hell for eternity...
one was run over by a car and the other run over by a bus.. your little protec will not save your life in these cases... the only thing that would save you is to not be under the car or bus...

In the eyes of the law, that the deceased was related to the operator of the vehicle is irrelevant.
We can reasonably assume that the father is remorseful, but the prosecutors office cannot use this assumption as a basis on whether to lay charges. The court will decide guilt or innocence and sentencing.

I would expect a significant reduction, hope the father can afford a good lawyer.

ok, now to address DR1 here... yes a helmet is very smart, but of the three longboard deaths recently, one was run over by a car and the other run over by a bus.. your little protec will not save your life in these cases... the only thing that would save you is to not be under the car or bus...

in these tragic stories people need more common sense than helmets.. and comon sense with a helmet is even better.

this being said, ive skitched over 40, but you gotta do it right, know what you are doing and stay away from wheels

Well Put. Nothing will protect you better than common sense. Yes Helmets are good but not for all cases

Some people are stupid enough that they think once they have a helmet on they are invincible, so to some helmets are a false sense of security.

So where a helmet and use your commmon sense. If you gotta think twice about it dont do it....
