I think it's good that guy owns his own business vs working for a company that would fire him after release from his arrest.
I think he's engaged himself in a heroic struggle of sorts, and in no way disagree with his 'methods' as he has chosen this path to bring attention to the hypocrisy of the law juxtaposed against the city's Go-Green campaign with the full knowledge of the repurcussions. IOW, it is he himself who is willing to pay a price in order to point out the ridiculousness of the law.
Sometimes it takes a person(s) willing to make a sacrifice, such as getting arrested, to change a law that does no real service to its citizens or is unfair. Reference the Boston Tea Party, slave revolts during the Revolutionary and Civil wars, as well as the Civil Rights struggle during the 50's - 70's.
The most hopeful part of the story, for me, was reporting that he had more than just two or three supporters but EIGHTY local skaters willing to also put themselves on the line to publically align themselves with his efforts. THAT'S 'core', THAT'S what is best about the skate community at large
