Actually I think his comparison is apt

like seeing a MotoGP bike reviewed in DirtRider, or a Bugati Veyron in 4Wheeler

Thrasher is a pretty discipline specific magazine they cover street, vert is exteme for them

Forget street vs. longboarding...I can't stand anyone who wears baseball hats anymore - they are all kooks. I used to wear them, but I grew out of it. I wear beanies now. Beanies are so much cooler than baseball hats. Those dudes who wear baseball hats always make fun of me, so I don't like them or their families anymore. I only like beanies, other people who wear them, and only listen to bands who wear beanies too. Don't even talk to me unless you are down with beanies.

Skullcaps are way more core than beanies. I used to have respect for Earthwing and now you go and show your true colours - You're a beenie supporter?! How can you call yourself core and rock a beenie. I'm so dissapointed. I mean, I started out with beenie put as your headgear progresses it becomes obvious that beenies will limit your cranial bag o tricks. I can't efen believe it...I'm sending my slide As back.

    No, I don't think I am.

Would a hip-hop magazine be interested in a white-power band? Doubtful (even though they're both forms of modern music).
Would a mountain bike magazine be interested in road bikes? Nope (even though they're both forms of bicycling).

I'm well aware that Thrasher used to cover things like DH, but they found their niche a long time ago, and have done a good job representing it for their readers.

I still see an age seperation, even if it's only a part of it. In terms of music, go to an indie emo/whatever/rock club and you'll see mostly teenagers, go to a rock/blues club and you'll see more adults. Both forms of rock n roll, which is still a specific type of music that not everyone likes.

Go to the grocery store side lot or elementary school near my house and you'll see kids grinding the curbs and kickflipping in one spot all session. Go to a skate park with a bowl and you'll see more adults skating. Just my observations. Of course, this doesn't account for every single person who likes to skate, but I think it covers the majority.

Keens and no socks (I had to look up Crocs...certainly wouldn't wear them) ...my hat is Quicksilver with an Indy patch over the QS logo and what's wrong with a big stick in the woods

I know this is sort of beyond most of the guys who post here; but I actually subscribe to and read Thrasher; and if you read the Rune Glifberg interview he says:

What's the most scared you've ever been on a skateboard?Probably at the Love Bowl. I was starting to think more about the slam than making it, which is never a good approach. That and bombing hills. Bombing hills, you have no control. You just give up all control and hope for the best. The Mega, too. Rolling into the Mega Ramp, that's pretty scary.
Now please unbunch your panties and continue with your discussions on the relative merits of Independent vs. Randal speed washers.
